2025-2026 offseason thread

you would think someone who has been around baseball most of his life, they would produce smarter posts than that.. I mean I bitch more than anyone about letting guys walk.. but they walked out the door while trying to win a championship.. you don't trade great players while trying to win a championship. If shit goes south again this year.. maybe that can be a topic of convo.. amazing the depth of stupid in some folks.

I do think they circle back to Kim. They'll look around on the trade market but if they can't find something soon I think it makes to much sense to work something out for both sides.

This. Elder may have given us innings in the past but that doesn't mean he should have. AA didn't provide any depth with an injury prone pitching staff. If Elder is getting a lot of starts this year then something went terribly wrong and AA screwed up again. Start Waldrep over Elder all day and damn the options for Elder. If we make a trade for a SS maybe we can slide Elder in there as filler.
After a year where the Braves had zero sp depth you want to trade someone who's healthy and an acceptable 5th starter?

The smart idea is to go with a 6 man rotation and let him be the 6th guy. Not because he's the 6th best but because he's out of options and pitchers like Holmes can start in the pen and then join the rotation if necessary.

What does Bill do now? Is he just a radio personality now? No way they trade Acuna after spending $30 million on the bullpen. They are going for it. Make it make sense. At least he admitted he’s a clown I guess. Sad how far he’s fallen. I used to respect him.

If Elder is on the team he needs to be in the bullpen. Elder starting the year in the rotation unless there are a lot of injuries is a fail.

Elder would be ass out of the pen. Again, the idea is how to get our 4 best starters healthy at the end of the year. Less starts throughout the year with a 6 man rotation could be one of the ways to get there. Moving on from Elder when the team has had a serious lack of depth the last two years just doesn't make much sense to me.

A six man rotation means one less pen guy. Which means the manager is probably going to extend his starters longer than they should.

I am not sure a six man rotation is the best way. Not saying it isn’t either. Just that is is not as simple as saying the Braves need to do X.

I personally like the thought of piggy back starters. The team has Elder/dodd/lopez/holmes/wentz right now that could all be long relievers if asked. Might be nice to maybe pair a few up in some fashion.

He did step in and eat innings and that's valuable but if it comes down to having a lesser pitcher (Elder) get innings over Waldrep then option him or trade him. Wentz, Holmes, and not to far into the season Ritchie will be good depth also. And that's assuming we don't sign another SP.
