2025-2026 offseason thread

Going by mlbtraderumor projections as a refrence/

Kim 2 years 30 million
Suarez 5 years 115 million - 23 million per
Iglesias 2 years 24 million - not because I want him but Braves apparently do

Thats 50 million right there. For utility players I would go after LH OF Mike Yastrzemski and RH Miguel Andujar. No amount listed for each so should be relatively cheap. Yastrzemski had a 126 RC vs RH pitching and has been a solid platoon player for years. He can play average defense in the corner outfield and has a great arm. Andujar had a 171 and 191 RC vs lefties the last 2 years. He can play all the corner positions and has a canon for an arm. If we want to rotate players at DH we need guys capable of filling in at those positions otherwise we really lose the primary benefit of the DH.
You can pretty much guarantee we aren't giving all that out in FA contracts.

And if the Braves wanted to retain Iggy, I feel pretty confident we would have just worked an extension.

I anticipate being disappointed by this off-season. Maybe it’s just PTSD from last offseason plus the last two deadlines, but I just can’t see AA having $60m+ to spend.

He can still do plenty even if he doesn't. Winn and Donovan would fill 2 big holes and it would mainly be prospect capital.

We have to hope AA has $60M to spend or he won’t be able to fill the holes on this roster. If he doesn’t fill the holes on this roster the window is closed, which means all we get to discuss is when to trigger the rebuild.

Or he's gonna have to get really creative in trades.

Braves did a lot of roster-purging on Thursday when they re-instated the players from the 60-day DL.

Outrighted to Gwinnett: OF Carlos Rodriguez, RHP Joel Payamps, C Chuckie Robinson, LHP Austin Cox

OF Jake Fraley claimed on waivers by the Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays.

Braves kept IF Brett Wisely, RHP Hunter Stratton, RHP Rolldy Munoz, and RHP Alex Manoah on the 40-man and claimed OF Michael Siani of waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals.

40-man roster now sits at 35.

It feels like we're trending towards a lot of roster turnover this offseason. We desperately need to raise the floor on the MLB bench, low-leverage BP arms, and reinforcements at AAA. I'm encouraged by AA's comments that imply he's not seeking a full-time DH. We need available ABs to attract a high-quality, versatile bench player (or two).

Out-of-options guys like Brujan and Wisely don't feel worthy of a 40-man spot at this juncture. They're "versatile" but neither can legitimately play MLB-caliber defense at SS or CF. Guys of this ilk will be floating out there in February seeking MiLB deals with roster invites.

Get Polanco that just opted out in Seattle. He can hit and bounce around on the infield. He's good insurance for Riley and Albies and can cycle through DH.

I was surprised Wisely wasn't waived. Brujan did show out a bit during this short stint with the Braves, but I agree if they need a roster spot there wouldn't be a problem letting him go.

Both of the Munoz brothers have plus stuff with iffy control. I see Roddery just got picked up again by a major league team off waivers from his previous team (going to Cincinnati from St. Louis). Holding onto Stratton is a bit of a surprise and I'd probably put him in the same catergory as Wisely and Brujan.
