2025-2026 offseason thread

The Dodgers are simply the best franchise in sports.
They are trying to break the single season W record and break the record for most consecutive world titles (5 by the Yankees in the 50s)
The Dodgers have the second best market, the best ownership, the best TV contract, and possibly the best player ever- whose unique situation allows him to defer his salary for a decade, all while allowing the Dodgers to become the de facto team of his very rich nation.
The Dodgers are the closest thing to unbeatable baseball has seen since Mantle and Stengel, and they're doing it in a much larger league with much tougher competition.
A salary cap sounds cute, but it wouldn't have any real effect on the Dodgers for at least half a decade- and I have serious doubts a salary cap is even implemented. The MLBPA is the most powerful union in the country, and they hate the owners already.
Yeah... having no budget will do that for you... its not hard to build the best roster when you are spending a half billion a year on players

You are exaggerating. Why didn't the Dodgers sign Juan Soto?

It's still a business. They are just Nvidia right now. The Yankees have been that way in the past and everybody just shrugged their shoulders.

Dodgers are the best team in baseball but Toronto outplayed them in the WS and honestly probably should have won. Baseball isnt like other sports where talent always win. It's a cruel sport.

they were outbid by the insecure billionaire who also can afford $400m payrolls

and lol at the idea people shrugged their shoulders at the Yankees. They’re basically the sole reason MLB introduced revenue sharing and the luxury tax.

The Braves once upon a time had a massive financial advantage. The Braves were the best team in the league when they signed a prime Greg Maddux and they almost signed Bonds.

Were you complaining then? It's a poor look.

The Brewers, Rays, and Guardians are consistent contenders recently with less than ideal financial situations.

There is no chance of a salary cap, so if you want that, you might as well just enjoy the NBA and NFL. I think MLB will figure out a way to pool the TV rights for the teams that were fucked by Bally's and we'll play ball in 2027 without a significant lockout.

Wow so it's already started before ST has even began. Our luck the last 3 years has been insane. Luckily it's just a 1 year deal but man we are back to needing a quality utility guy or SS. Just trade for Brandon Donovan.

People will say AA didn't prepare any depth when Dubon inevitably gets injured and we are running out another all defense no offense SS. Lol.

More fluke Injuries FFS
