2025-2026 offseason thread

I literally quoted it dipshit. Rub 3 brain cells together and find it yourself. And stop being willingly naive acting like that excuse wasn’t prevalent last season.
He literally did NOT say that.

He was replying to your statement to me, regarding how we have effectively punted the off-season. At no point did anyone mention "it doesn’t matter he made zero SP additions". He specifically mentioned that there is no adequate contingency for losing 4 starting pitchers, which is absolutely, 100% true.

So again I ask, can you read?

I agree with the spirit of what you’re getting at, but there’s a realistic number between 0 and 4 that would have helped.

The problem at the moment is AA’s actions suggest the number is 0 (and he’s a smart and creative GM, so I believe him that it wasn’t for a lack of effort).
Sure. But ST hasn't even started yet and people are already crying

Everyone knows we need to add a SP. But there's not a team in baseball even the Dodgers that can survive losing their best 4 starters. Like say they lost Snell, Ohtani, Glasnow and Yamo. They're in deep shit just like every team in baseball is. My small cope is AA thinks Schwelly will return this year and thats why he hasnt made an addition yet.

That didn't seem to be the indication. In any event, we can't wait around and assume that. We should be operating now like Schwelly and Waldrep don't exist this season. Figure it out later if they get back.

And the Dodgers did lose all of their guys at some point last season. They suffered a little, but they kept it together because they actually had quality depth, not just a quantity of guys who could stand on the mound and throw for a few innings.

The Braves have the depth to reasonably cover a couple of pitching injuries right now.. that was never in question.. But those two injuries have already accrued before a single spring pitch has been thrown. Now when the next guy(s) inevitably happen, the team will be looking at some quad A scrub throwing 100+ innings again this year while already enduring the average replacement level production that we get the pleasure to watch twice a week.

So when posters say things like, what is AA supposed to do, sign 4 pitchers... it sure does make it seem like they really don't get how huge of a fail AA has been AGAIN this offseason. So yes, it does feel like a punt before we even clear spring.. of course things can break the right way, but it could have been a hell of a lot simpler if recognizing starting pitching was a TOP priority this winter...

I think AA doesn't want to overpay in prospects and also doesn't want to overpay in dollars. While it's commendable, he had a clear opportunity to improve the club last July and didn't take it.

By saying a season was "punted", no, it can't break right. That implies there is no other alternative than disaster

He doesn’t want to trade Ritchie for someone who is not necessarily better now, and is even less likely to be better next year.

That’s what most of the current proposals amount to.
