2025 Trade Deadline Thread

I see the Padres stuff is picking up steam bc others are talking about it now. I'd be surprised if Ozuna is still here this time tomorrow.

I’m ready for the first domino to fall. Let’s get this tank started and start rooting for draft picks and 2026.

This would pretty good value for half a season of a DH only player with a bap hip.

I know next to nothing about these prospects, but from a quick look it seems that Pena would compare somewhat similarly to Lara. A future reliever with a couple of plus pitches but very poor command.

FG has Bergert rated as their #3 prospect and a 45 FV. That seems a bit high for a 25 year old pitcher, but he has had mild success already in the majors so maybe that it what is propping up his value. He seems to compare somewhat favorably to Waldrep. Both throw a mid 90's fastball with mediocre movement. Both have 1 plus pitch and average secondary offerings. Waldrep probably has better overall stuff but Bergert has much better command. Bergert probably holds slightly more value due to the mild success he's had so far at the ML level while Waldrep continues to struggle in AAA.

Berget is a good changeup away from being in the 50 FV tier. He and the Padres have made successful changes to his delivery and pitch mix that have his fastball playing better in 2025 than ever before. Berget’s arm slot has been raised and he’s added a tick of velo, now sitting 94 with more pure vertical movement because of his new release point. He’s generating comfortably plus chase and miss on his fastball at Triple-A so far in 2025. The tweaks to his delivery haven’t impacted his command, as Bergert has a single digit walk rate so far this year and is dotting his trademark slider on the corner of the zone with the same consistency as he has in prior seasons.
Bergert has added a second breaking ball, a slower, low-80s sweeper that functions like a strike-stealing curveball against lefties and occasionally gives righties a chase breaking ball with a different shape to worry about. His changeup usage, especially against lefties, is way down compared to last year, as Bergert instead backdoors his sweeper to get ahead and then elevates his fastball as a finisher. It works, and Bergert’s delivery and command are comfortably of starter quality. The 2025 season is Bergert’s first on the 40-man. He has debuted and should graduate into a no. 4/5 starter role this year.

I'm already there. You hate to see your team lose but at this point a top 5 pick in the draft and the pool money with it is worth it.

I'm rooting for the Baldwin ROY just as much as the team tanking. That PPI pick is with $3-3.5 million for the bonus pool.

We have to do everything possible to get him that award. 30 writers vote on the award - let's get the front office to funnel them some money for voting Baldwin. Where's Coppy when we need him?!

Developing changeups seems to be our specialty, lol, so this tracks why we are interested in him.

Same. We need to get that award. The only speed bump is Mizz and hopefully he starts sucking once the league catches on. Him going 3-5 innings a game using gonna cut it either.

I think the only way the Braves land those two pitchers is if they are paying the rest of Ozuna's salary... which is 100% what they should be doing on any trade of his.. they are still under the tax and if it helps sweeten the deal for them, go for it... that is one reason I really like AA targeting the Fryers.. they are cash strapped.. Braves could even take on a small 'bad' contract in the deal as well.

I am wondering if they took Mizz out last night because he got hit in the butt or if they are trying to control his innings/pitches down the stretch so he is more available in the playoffs.

We just need Baldwin to go on a homer streak and really put him ahead in WAR.

Mizz won't be dominant all the time. If his ERA is over 3.5 when the season ends and Baldwin has .280 with 20+ homers and playing from day 1 will sway it.

Not sure if I believe Gomez much anymore... he's had a few hits but quite a bit more misses
It's hard for me to see anyone giving up anything at all for a DH that has this line since June 1st...
.175/.263/.299
57 wrc+

And he's been benched on a team that can't score at all.
