2025 Trade Deadline Thread

Pretty certain AA will over fckn analyze this process and wait to crunch time to flip pieces for any kind of meaningful return. Then blow smoke up our asses about wanting to keep them. He's completely fucking up as a GM..

How would flipping pieces for a meaningful return be fucking up?

Rosenthal wrote today that we are not making any trades based on shedding payroll and haven't been given any directive to cut salary. Makes me think we need to be throwing in money with every trade to get a better return.

they are already under the tax.. so this should be the opening statement.. hey what do you want to give me for Ozuna and his salary.. what about Bummer and his 2025 salary.

Yup, as long as we aren't adding much salary, we need to be kicking in money in any trade to get a better return.

Davis Daniel 2.0 and 3.0 come on down... can't wait to see them start 3-4 games next season
Believe it or not, but money can be pretty valuable to teams who don't have much to spend. Someone like the Pads, for instance, who are trying to stay under the tax threshold, would likely place a good bit of value on the Braves picking up the tab on any player we trade their way.

I just don't think a free Ozuna is worth anything. He's one of the worst hitters in baseball the last couple months

The Braves are trying to spin that with the Hip injury and that he is feeling better.. but they did a horrible job of convincing anyone by letting him play through it, and then benching him when they are saying he is better.. Just dumb people running this org right now.

He still gets on base well. And there simply isn't a lot of offense available. Certainly not much that SD can afford either with prospects or with cash.

I doubt we get much for him but packaging him with a reliever and eating the salary should net at least a relief prospect and a lottery ticket pitcher.

And before his hip discomfort he was one of the best hitters in the league. He's resting it so if a team likes his medicals he certainly has value. But yes, the Braves screwed that all up playing him when he was obviously not 100%

Ozuna since June...
.174.261/.297
55 wrc+
.123 ISO

No positional flexibility at all.

Be honest, what would you trade for him?
I don't know... I'm not a medical expert and I can't see his medicals... If I'm convinced his recent swoon is because of he hip and I'm convinced he can be back to normal relatively quickly, I'd give something for him. He was never going to bring anything significant

No cherry picking of stats there at all.😀

Seriously, they would be gambling that improved health and a change of scenery would help him get going again. History has shown that there is a good chance that it would.

Before the hip injury, Ozuna was hitting well and hit very well last year. A team with little payroll flexibility might be willing to gamble on him returning to pre-injury form. If he does then he's an impact bat. So there will be interest. Not sure there will be enough to make us willing to pay him not to play for us though.

With the hip injury is all that matters for a rental. The braves are one of the worst offenses in baseball, and yet, they sit Ozuna. How do you explain this if Ozuna can be considered a good hitter?
