4/18 GDT: GNATS VS BRAVES

Braves are up 12% from last year and they opened up with the Nats and cards. It was also a bigger stadium wit cheaper tickets. So using those numbers I think not only will the braves make more money they will get bigger draws as the season progresses since SD is done

They should and they will. But saying attendance this year doesn't matter doesn't make any sense to me. It does matter.

Through 5 games last year. 148322. So far this year? 165,795. One of the issues is capacity. Braves sold out opening night and then Saturday at 41K. A Turner Field sellout is 48K. I'd give until the middle of May to see where our attendance figures are trending.

edited: for typo

Your numbers last year are wrong according to espn.

I agree, I thought the first week at the new park would have been sold out or close.. But I also know that spring break and school will play a big role in attendance. I am more curious come July and later. I think this is just bored fans needing something else to over react to small sample size results.

Atlanta attendance is always pathetic during the weekdays before school is out. The summer will be a good barometer of what's going on.

#1 reason I support balls and strikes being called by a computer.

There's no reason why we couldn't replace just about every duty of an umpire with technology and improve the accuracy of pretty much all calls.

If freaking TopGolf can put chips in thousands of golf balls and in targets that can tell you where they land, there is no reason why MLB couldn't chip the bases, balls, and gloves to get all the base calls right. The technology is already in place to handle balls and strikes.

Cut umpiring crews back from four to one, with the one guy on the bases to call tag plays, catch/traps, and infield flies and other obscure rules. ****can Bucknor, Holbrook, Hernandez, and all the other incompetents. Think of all the time and money that MLB would save. There obviously aren't enough competent umps to fill MLB crews. Maybe with a 75% reduction in staffing needs they would end up with the guys who actually have a clue.

This is the best 'angry' rant I have read in a long time.

This is a long term plan to develop a burgeoning community. For you guys to use numbers from this year shows that you really don't understand what this group is trying to accomplish.

Wow...just when I thought you couldn't be any more of a homer haha!

The reason is the umpire union. I agree with you though, these things should already be in place. When the umpires strike I would fire every one of them the first time they no show a game for cause so they can't get unemployment benefits.

LOL at thethe saying we shouldn't use attendance numbers in the first year of the park to measure the impact of the new stadium.

That is truly classic
