5/8 at rays

At this rate Trout is either on pace or close to it to set the record for WAR in a given season so year that's not fair to Simmons or any other player. 1.8 WAR at this point in the season is amazing and MVP level. Trout's 2.9 WAR is historic. Trout is better than everyone else and at worst he be #3 in WAR all-time when he retires.

but Andrelton will never be an MVP candidate as long as Trout and Betts are in the same league.

I guess that depends on what you mean by MVP candidate. If you are posting 7+ WAR seasons then you are a candidate imo even if you don't get a vote.

I think there was a better deal out there for Simmons. The fact that Newk has come around is great and kinda lucky on our part.

I agree. I think the risk of coming out of that deal with nothing was way too high. I like Newk now but I need Andreltons defense in my life on a daily basis again.

Newks got a long way to go but we are seeing the potential of being one of the best pitchers in baseball. His stuff is absolutely top notch.

that Acuña homerun landed real close to us last night

was a good game

about to head back to Georgia though

Sure, if the 28 year old who has been a relatively average hitter at best for all of his career, suddenly becomes a really good hitter then he might put up 7 WAR seasons and maybe perhaps would be an MVP candidate.

Just like Ender Inciarte is gonna.

i guess. 7th in the AL in fWAR with a .360 BABIP. we'll see how it ends up.

Whether he keeps it up is irrelevant. He's playing like an MVP candidate right now. You said he'd never be one with Betts and Trout in the league. What others players do don't really matter in terms of what your level of play is.

he's 7th in the AL in fWAR.
i still don't really know what your point is. yeah, he's currently hitting above his head. the first month and a half of the season he's been really good.

Folty will forever be a 4 or 5. When you can't locate a fastball your ceiling as a starter or in general as a pitcher is limited. It all begins with that. Everything builds off of the fastball and when you can't hit your spots the batter doesn't have to respect it. That results in not being able to sequence pitches/locations to take advantage of hitters weaknesses.

You say this at the same time you claim Newk and Fried are TOR guys?

Seriously?
