7/2: giants game 1

It's time for Olson to shut me up. With the way this team is constructed, Olson has to obliterate rhp bc we have too many that can't

I know he hasn't had a good year, but come on, everyone. Matt Olson is only 30 years old, 4.5 years younger than FF. Which was the main reason for the trade. I don't know what the typical aging curve is for players of his type, but he has a lean body and plays a position that doesn't put a lot of wear and tear on his joints, so I don't see why he should age poorly. He just seems like a player who goes through extended hot and cold periods.

The aging curve for those types of players is very well documented. They age almost as poorly as catchers, which AA also signed to a large extension.

God help us for what I'm about to say... go get Eddie Rosario! He's an actual mlb lhh. Not a good one, but he is one, and we need one.

Age matters little when Freddie is simply better than Matt. The only solace to be taken is we did get Matt's career year in our uni.

Freeman didn't....

Can you identify any differences between Freeman's and Olson's offensive profiles that suggest a reason?

You may want to start by noticing I referred to Olson as a "LHH power goon", and try to figure out what stats make a guy qualify as that type of hitter.

Or just keep blabbering nonsense...nobody really cares what you post.

Freeman is an all time great while Olson is just a run of the mill good player. Warned you that ageing curves don’t happen evenly and you wouldn’t listen.

Freeman will be great at 38.

To be fair, before we moved on, you used to say that you expected Freeman to age like a typical 1B.

Because he thinks exporting data is a unique skill. He has no true insight. Just results of basic data analytics. And when confronted with real world nuance he malfunctions and proves to be worthless.

We should have kept Freeman...regardless of what impact Olson has going forward.

He should have been kept on the cheer point that he is a first ballot HOFer that was still in his late prime and for players of his caliber that lasts for much longer than regular guys.

Agreed...AA knew all of these things...I'm convinced his pride got in the way during negotiations when going back and forth with Freddie's agent...Nothing was stopping either one of them from picking up the phone and calling one another. AA cried during the interview for Christ sake.

It was hubris mostly and AA thought he could replace a first ballot HOFer. He was wrong. It happens.
