8/9: Red Sox game 1

Has there been a more optimistic albies' report lately? I thought I read late September a week or 2 ago.

2B Ozzie Albies (fractured left foot)
Expected return: Late August or September
Albies began playing catch on Aug. 3, but Braves manager Brian Snitker did not know when the second baseman might be cleared for other baseball activities, like hitting off a tee. But, the expectation is Albies will increase his activities over the next few weeks and possibly be part of Atlanta’s lineup for most of the season’s final month. Albies broke his right foot while taking a swing from the left side of the plate on June 13 at Nationals Park. (Last updated: Aug. 4)

(Two weeks from now will be the last week in August.)

If we promote Grissom now then he would use his rookie status up this year and thus can’t win rookie other year next year. Things we have to consider.

Grissom has shown out this year and he's logged some innings at 2B at each level, but I think it's asking a lot of a guy to basically learn a new position at the major league level. I wouldn't be that worried about hitting because I don't think much development happens above AA (AAA teams are basically major league taxi squads and I don't see AAA as much of a development level for hitters [pitchers maybe]) for hitters. I think it all depends on where the Braves see themselves vis-a-vis the division race. They are almost assured of making the playoffs, but if they don't see themselves as passing the Mets, they would probably tolerate a miscue and mental error or two as long as it didn't erode Grissom's confidence.

If albies is close, no way you bring up Grissom. If albies isn't close, it becomes a decision. I think we figure out something about albies today

Albies is probably a month away. If they feel Grissom is the best option then those at bats would be good for his development imo. When Albies comes back you could send Grissom back to AA and he would be available for the post season roster. Those young guys come up and are a shot of adrenaline it seems.

Grissom is pretty fast. It’d be fun watching Grissom, Harris, Acuna all back to back running

If they are back to back then one of them will be running backwards...pretty slowly. If they must remain back to back, then both will be running slowly as a result.

This seems like a poor strategy.

Don't think 3 people can run back-to-back, but I did go to public schools in Mississippi

I am ashamed that it took me a minute and a half to figure this out... then I just groaned and realized you are a dad and have the dad jokes down already.
