Affordable Care Act

Presented without commentary, 2018 ACA plans for a married couple in Florida:

Holy ****

ACA apps are way up after the first few days ....

And 57 whined about pulling advertising dollars.

Something something wanting something to bitch about

I didn't whine, I pointed out defunding enrollment notices is a chicken **** way of pandering to your donors.
After losing 7 or 8 times in the Congress.

Ends justifies the means ?

Goodness all the plans are expensive, the out of pocket is horrendous.

I pay max of $4800 as a family out of pocket and my family insurance is $220 a month.

Yep. Who knew that providing really crappy, unaffordable health insurance (not health care, health insurance) could be so expensive...

CBO: Obamacare mandate repeal would cut deficit by $338 billion
Repealing Obamacare’s individual mandate would save the government $338 billion over a decade and result in 13 million more uninsured Americans in 2027, according to a new CBO score.
...
The new analysis finds that repealing the mandate would not have as big of an impact as the estimates CBO made nearly a year ago. A December 2016 CBO analysis found that undoing the mandate would reduce the budget deficit by $416 billion over nearly a decade and result in 15 million more uninsured Americans in 2026 than under current law.

(That's $26,000 each to require those 13 million to purchase insurance.)

BUt it is so expensive.

Even though I am considered in the middle middle class of a family income, I couldn't afford anything over the Bronze with kids that are in school and college about 7 years away. The thought of paying 1400 to 2000 k a month is more than my house payment?

The out of pocket in a year, you can almost buy a brand new sub compact car.

How is this affordable?

I came across this today and was flabbergasted:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chloramphenicol

Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic useful for the treatment of a number of bacterial infections.[3] This includes as an eye ointment to treat conjunctivitis.[4] By mouth or by injection into a vein, it is used to treat meningitis, plague, cholera, and typhoid fever.[3] Its use by mouth or by injection is only recommended when safer antibiotics cannot be used and if used, monitoring both blood levels of the medication and blood cell levels every two days is recommended during treatment.[3]
...
Chloramphenicol was discovered in 1947.[6] It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines, the most effective and safe medicines needed in a health system.[7] It is available as a generic medication.[3] The wholesale cost in the developing world of an intravenous dose is about 0.40 to 1.90 USD.[8] In the United States an intravenous dose costs about 41.47 USD.[9] Global issues relating to bacterial resistance have revived interest in its use.[10]

Madness.

So let’s get this straight… the GOP wants the #GOPTaxScam to kick millions off health insurance (by repealing key part of #ACA) AND repeal the tax deduction for medical expenses? Have they no heart?

Tax cuts will add 1847394828 dollars to the deficit.

After America died after the Senate tax bill... it died again after net neutrality... Not sure how many more times we'll be able to die but I'll go check twitter to see what will kill us all next
