Alberto Callaspo Possibly Being Traded

Shanks used that bull **** "MP" to coerce posters into premium accounts for two years. Ponzi schemer

The development of that board was interesting. I think it had a lot to do with how young most of the posters were when the board hit it's peak. It peaked around 2005 or so when the Baby Braves were the thing and everyone liked Shanks enough. But eventually he started alienating posters and being bitchy.

I mean to point out one I'm sure you're tired of, you started the ask Bill Shanks thread, and were a BIll supporter until he banned you for no reason. I never hated the guy really. Just wasn't a fan of the board he cultivated. We built a pretty successful community after he left inspite of Patio until he ran it into the ground.

Yeah he wasn't bad until the premium board nonsense took over. The board was great pre Bill as well. He didn't come on until about 2003.

I didn't hate Bill till I noticed how condescending he was and how he couldn't take one iota of criticism.

I wasn't around pre-Bill but I'm sure it was great. Honestly he wasn't even that bad after the Premium stuff except for the bull**** he did like when he closed down threads that scooped him, and of course the war on the BBQ. I don't even know how many different screen names thewupk and Brule had.

I never really hated Bill. He brought and kept some good posters around. I hated the way that board acted, and he was certainly part of that. But it was enjoyable as well. Being the kids in the back of the class can be really fun.

Yup. I was 15 at the time I believe. Shanks portrayed himself as having a direct link to the front office that no other writer could match. He had a couple solid scoops in his time, but his insecurity ultimately did him in.

Speaking of Shanks, he says the deal is Callaspo and Cahill plus two fringe players for Uribe and a pitcher.

He probably doesn't know anything either, just narrowing it down to Cahill. He says "Looks like..." giving him an out if he guesses wrong.

I'm still guessing Ian Thomas plus two prospects from our side, but if they want Cahill they can have him. :)

Yes the offense has not been the problem like you and many other posters said it would be

So far, it has been better than I expected, but it is still early.

8th in NL in runs scored
9th in OPS
10th in OPS+
9th in wRC

We are among the leagues lead in soft hit% and the the leagues low in hard hit%. I hope the offense can continue, but I don't expect it to.

But, hey, we don't strike out!

I forgot that thewupk was public enemy number one for a time. He's such a mild mannered poster on this board. Bill was an ass.

Yeah I stated posting at Scout in 2002 when I was 14. Some of the posters there are what turned me on to new stats, fangraphs, and a totally new perception of baseball. Kind of ironic the antithesis of this is what chased me away from the board.

The offense is definitely trending downwards. That's probably a good thing. The best case scenario for the season is a good performances out of players we can trade (johnson, Grilli, CJ, and maybe Maybin), growth from our cornerstones, and a protected draft pick.

Back then it was still FanHome ... the switch to Scout didn't occur until Fox Sports bought into things about 2004ish, IIRC.

Sources: RHP Chris Withrow, recovering from TJ surgery, expected to go from #Dodgers to #Braves in trade. Projected to be back second half.

Yup. The problem was that Bill hated being proven wrong. And thewupk was one of the biggest statheads on the board and wasn't afraid to let it be known when he was right and Bill was wrong.

TJ. Of course

Withrow is a true power arm. High 90's with a strong slider and strikes out over 11 per 9 innings. Former first round pick, albeit that being back in 2007.

Not bad.
