Are the Braves as hopeless as it may seem?

If the Braves win 80, Fredi gets manager of the year.

He managed better with the **** teams in Florida than with the winning teams Wren gave him. I think a 73-win team is something he can really take a bite out of. There is an argument to be made that when all your options are bad ones, there are no bad decisions.

Reinvent the game as we know it, bat the pitcher 1st to get him out of the way.

That's basically what he did with the good teams. He'll probably make a reasonable decision this year (like Markakis), at least at the beginning. But don't worry, BJ will be hitting at the top before you know it.

BJ at cleanup, Simmons in the 2 hole, Alberto Callaspo playing 2nd and hitting 5th.

That will work one day, just you wait and see, at least 1 out the 162 you'll have Simmons get a hit, BJ walk, and Callaspo hit a bomb (one of his few all year).

It will be the game of the season and very exciting! :)

Wren makes the best lineups.

We traded 2 of our best OBP guys.

In fact of players with 200 PA (we had 8) 2 through 5 are gone. Leaving 1, 6, 7, and 8. Markakis would probably slot around where Justin was so in the 3-4 range from last year. We still have Simmons who doesn't get on base, we still have Christian Bethancourt, a man who hasn't walked more that 5% of the time at any step in the minors since he was 17. Chris Johnson, same thing. Callaspo is a solid walk guy who could replace what we got from say TLS. I hope Peterson gets a long look he could be a good OBP and maybe come close to replacing Jason. Overall I don't see aside from BJ having a high average season, the idea that out OBP will be higher is very unlikely.

I think some of the young guys will surprise. I may be wrong, but I think there are a lot of young players who, given an opportunity can and will put up good numbers. I think the Braves scouting department has and will find some of them. I think we are in for an entertaining season as we find out who breaks out this year.

I mean if we went with say Jace at 3B and Peraza at 2B and they replicated their minor league results to a point then there would be some optimizing shot of our offense. But we really don't have much young guys who should be good hitters. I hope I'm wrong and I hope our hitters do well. I love the Braves and want them to win. But Idon't think they will do a ton of that.

I think we will be average. Our rotation and bullpen will keep us from being God-awful in my opinion, but the offense definitely keeps us from being relevant. Fill a few holes and improve here and there; we could contend for a WC this year.
