Are the Braves as hopeless as it may seem?

I still think we're a .500 team and will be much more bearable to watch then last year

Well if by more bearable you mean we'll be mediocre all year instead of great to start, OK in the middle and horrible at the end you may have a point.

I really still don't get the trade of TLS from a 2015-2016 production standpoint but it could be a sign of a potential Kimbrel trade with Viz being slotted as potential closer candidate with Simmons and Graham.

The thing is, if you are not first (or at least WC eligible) then winning is actually detrimental to future team building. Part of the Braves problem has been that when they haven't been great they haven't been terrible leaving them with draft position outside of elite talents (which translates to every round). But it also put in the mind of management that if they could just get that one more player they would compete which is a dangerous position unless you pick right at the FA and trade market.

The Braves from 2010-2013 were great.

Graham is on the twins. Could be folty long term.

We need to give Folty every chance to be a successful starter and I think he will be. We have in house closer options already on the team and I could see Simmons or Viz taking on the role if Kimbrel is traded

It's been a mixed bag of moves and a lot will depend upon whether Peraza will be ready to contribute in 2015. I still don't think we are athletic enough in terms of team speed to play the kind of game the front office seems to want to play.

I think the pitching will be fine. Scoring will be the challenge. Defense should be just okay. Still need a LF.

I hope he is but if his off speed doesn't develop the it's ok if the fall back is dominant closer.

2 more than we will probab ly win in the 2014-2015 stretch

Probably, but the end result of these seasons will be a building for a better long lasting successful future. Better to rebuild one year early as opposed to one year too late. Sadly, we might have been a couple of years too late.

Even when they had outstanding draft position, there was no guarantee of a blue chip prospect. Obviously, they nailed it with Chipper, but there were non-impact early 1st rounders: Mike Kelly, Tyler Houston, to name a couple.
