Should Atlanta shut down Teheran and Miller in their final starts vs. St. Louis next weekend?

1. For one, send our weaker starters/bullpen to hopefully ensure losses

2. Why risk injury for two of your big guns heading into 2016 season? I know it's just one start.
 
Should be a pretty fun week around baseball. Tight AL race, and the Pirates have an opportunity. If they sweep the Cards and tie things up, the Braves will certainly play spoiler either way.
 
I know it's a small sample, but has anyone looked at Cahill's stats with the Cubs? 16 Ks in 13 IP. He had 14 Ks in 26 IP as a Brave. Add to that, his WHIP with the Braves was 1.78. It's 0.68 with the Cubs. I guess that's why they say never judge anything based on September.

Only 10? This may all be a mirage and he could fade like cheap jeans in bleach, but this is why you always have to be patient with pitching. That said, he served no real purpose in Atlanta after his miserable stretch. Curious to see if this stint with the Cubs has turned him around.
 
that is why you don't look at small sample sizes. Have you looked at CJ numbers with the tribe. I know at one point not too long ago he was still hitting .350.. We all know that won't be maintained. Also, remember when we traded or released Jordan Shaf last year or maybe two years ago.. and the twins picked him up.. he maintained a .300 average for a few months. I don't even know if he is in the majors this year.. judging someone on a small sample size gets you contract extentions like CJ for ATL..

Don't get me wrong. I agree. I'm just wondering if the Cubs saw something in Cahill that has helped him. It's always difficult to tell this time of the season because so many guys are worn out physically and Cahill hasn't had a big workload to date. I was unaware that he spent a month and a half in the Dodgers' system after the Braves released him, so it's not like the Braves were the only ones who missed something (if indeed anything has been missed). I'm just curious to see if this stint with the Cubs is enough to get him a major league contract in the off-season.
 
no, I wasn't arguing.. and Cahill isn't old so there may be something.. I doubt it sticks but there is always a GM willing to take a chance for the right price. Cahill was horrible with the Dodgers minor league system, worse than he was with us.. But if he can find the sinker and make it effective by actually throwing strikes he can be a descent pitcher.. that just hasn't been the case the last two years... so I am going to go on that sample size as opposed to a few innings with the Cubs. more of what I was saying..
 
Ha, had to look up CJ's numbers... the real CJ has shown up now. His average is down to .293 with them but with an impressive .319 OBP.. yes he has 3 walks.. now that is awesome. his last 8 games or so he has like 4 hits and 11 ks.. so yes, the real CJ is back..
