Around Baseball

I doubt the Braves even offered him much.

Gattis is cheaper than Mac is for the next 3-4 years, it was the right move.

Love Mac and all he did but it was best for both sides to part ways.

And please, if the Braves offered, say, 3 years, 30 million with a 4th year option and the 5/85, you'd take the Braves offer.

Without sounding like an ass, you're full of crap if you would.

The Braves wouldn't, couldn't, and shouldn't have offered Mac anything approaching what he got on the FA market. There are rarely decisions so clear-cut. I loved him while he was here, and I wish him the best in NY.

Can anyone explain what's up with the Rays? They won like 90 games last season and essentially have the same team?

I find Headley's demise amusing. The Padres begged and pleaded with him to take their money and now he probably wont get half of that in the remainder of his career. I love when greed turns around on people.

Exactly. If the Braves were to play the Yanks in the Series, I would give him a standing O with a tear in my eye, and then gleefully root against his team, hoping he has the only (non-run-producing) hit. Rest of the Yanks wear the collar.

so...it's a pretty good thing the braves didnt trade for chase headley like some here suggested.

Yeah, well, at the time, expecting this kind of decline was like expecting, say, Dan Uggla to decline. It just seemed too unlikely to contemplate.

Chase would be a good guy to go after, depending on the price. Him getting out of Petco would do wonders for him. http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/chasing-chase-why-you-should-consider-headley/

There are all kinds of signs that he will be on an uptick getting out of that park. Plus his peripherals show some terrible luck. Get him out of SD and I'd bet on a 15-20 HR guy, good OBP, and great defense. He would be an instant upgrade over Johnson and now might be the perfect time to go after him (assuming he's healthy)

I would love to get him now. But he was so overrated in the past it was absurd.

I think we have enough of that thanks.

Matt Williams said Zimmerman is moving back to third base once Harper comes off the DL. So Rendon to second base and Zimmerman back to third base.

He made a wife beating joke which of course offended those who look to be offended by everything.

The joke was definitely in poor taste. You can't say that in front of a bunch of cameras and microphones. The same way rape jokes aren't funny.
