Around the League - 2021 Szn

The new discipline policy for use of foreign substances states a suspended pitcher can not be replaced on the roster. This is the first time I've ever heard of such a team penalty, and will be a good way to make teams police themselves.

The player still gets paid if suspended for use of a foreign substance, correct? I think I read that. If that’s true, is that also a first?

Good. Punish the teams as much as possible. I also like that the players still get paid.

Glasnow is a bitch.

Maybe take a little bit off and locate your pitches.

Bitch.

Calm down. There's nothing wrong with Rosin and sunscreen. And hitters that have been asked seem to prefer pitchers that pitchers are allowed to use this. I imagine when a guy is throwing 98 MPH heaters in the direction of your body, you would want them to have better control of the baseball as well.

Results may vary but this guy (former minor league player) made this video a month ago.

Clearly it's **** like spider tack that will generate the big increase in RPM.

I think there is. If it really is a safety issue then make that case. Remove the rule or get MLB to approve something for everyone to use.

Everyone is making their own b/c they think they can get some sort of advantage.

It would help if MLB stopped monkeying around with the ball.

Every article I've read references players thinking MLB is doing this now to divide the players in the CBA. Guys it's going to be NASTY in the off season. 2022 Braves Redemption Song Season is going to be 100 games or less.

I agree for the most part. What this really does is give another reason for the players sit out. MLB loves to mess up every mild controversy and turn it into a huge deal. But God forbid they do something useful like hold mpires accountable.

Shohei Ohtani hit 7 home runs in 6 games this week, and the one game he didn’t hit a homerun he pitched 6 innings of 1-run ball with 5 Ks.

Incredible. We’ve never seen anything like this.

article discussing the pitchers that have been affected the most by the sticky stuff prohibition of June 3.

Fried the only brave mentioned on his curve. Some pitchers have seen their stuff tank across the board. Gerrit Cole is gonna have a HR problem going forward it looks like. Boy that contract could be a monster albatross in a year or so....

I'm curious to see if the new policy affects pitcher development in the minors. Spin rate and velocity are still going to be cornerstones in projecting probable success, but as those measures dip into a range deemed clearly more hittable, third (and maybe fourth) pitches will likely have to become larger parts of pitchers' arsenals.

Hopefully Ynoa's success wasn't spider tack driven.

Smyly is on there as well. Significant drops to his cutter and 4 seam.
