Around the Majors - 2022 Version

I’m sure Olson has felt a ton of pressure with the Freeman situation playing out the way it went down and everything. He’ll be fine.

Didn’t seem to be feeling much pressure the first two weeks of the season…which would’ve been the time he’d feel the most pressure.

Questionable take, I fear.

To clarify...MLB is too incompetent to provide consistent baseballs, yet competent at consistently providing hot balls on Sunday and dead balls to every other game. Never mind they have shown no ability whatsoever to control the performance of the baseballs.

Is that not what we have to believe for this conspiracy to be true?

Whether or not they are able to control it is probably irrelevant. My main contention is that I have no doubt the MLB would attempt to try such an experiment if they thought there was some value to it. I mean MLB and it's owners/front office people are largely made up of the same people who think "being clutch" is a skill set.

Rosenthal wrote this morning that the Braves reached out to Brett Gardner after the Rosario surgery, but Gardner said he wasn't interested.

It’s crazy how down offense is around the league. You’d think if it’s not up by the all star break they’ll put the juiced ball back in play full time.

No. This is what MLB wants. They want excitement back in the game. So how do you do that? Make it to where the new launch angle swing is obsolete. What were once homers are now warning track flyouts. Players will have to adjust their swing to have a more line drive and ground ball approach. The next step will be to ban the shift which I believe is happening next year? Now those line drives and ground balls will be hits more often than they are right now. That puts more traffic on the bases and that to them equals more excitement.

Fans like seeing homeruns. It’s always been that way. Winning is always the most fun end result of course but singles aren’t exciting.

Tell that to the people who are 50+ who grew up enjoying baseball in the 70's and 80's or earlier. Those are the chief complainers of how the modern game is. And for some reason that's who MLB is wanting to market to. Makes no sense to me.

Homers are fun…if it’s your team hitting them.

Strikeouts are fun…as long as it isn’t your team striking out.

The best thing MLB can do for the sport to make it more interesting is restore the competitive balance and make the regular season games mean more.

Homers and strikeouts are great for watching on a TV - Painfully boring to sit through at the ball park. Give me more stolen bases, doubles, triples, etc. I don’t think it’s a boomer take at all. (Or maybe I’m now a boomer).

Either way - baseball needs to figure out consistency. Every year I feel like it takes 2 months to figure out what’s impressive.

The Phillies have just won 3 in a row against the Dodgers in LA. They go for a four game sweep tomorrow.

BTW, the Dodgers have lost 4 in a row and 5 out of 6, all coming against the Pirates and Phillies.
