Around the Majors - 2022 Version

If y’all read the piece by Bowman about this, you may change your perception a little - sounds like (as many have pointed out) this wasn’t what freeman wanted at all, and he was essentially out of the loop and blindsided

The Braves didn’t trade for Olson until two days after he supposedly got the call from his agents about the ultimatum they gave AA. That is certainly enough time for him to step in and take over negotiations or assert himself if he really cared. I fail to believe this aw shucks I didn’t know any better attitude he keeps putting on. If he really wanted to stay a Brave and was financially set as stated in that article he would’ve had his agents negotiating in good faith. That didn’t happen.

Yeah. Something tells me if Olson wasn't hot lately and Braves in playoff position again, that this whitewashing article of history wouldn't be churned out by Bowman.

Chipper told BB Abbott what he wanted. And that he wanted to stay.

Freddie being oblivious and acting like the victim in all this is hilarious.

That article would contradict him throwing AA under the bus initially before he changed his story again and said his agents blindsided him.

Has he fired his agent(s)? If not, this whole "my agents did it without me knowing" thing is bull****.

If Freeman was the victim like he's trying to spin it, he'd have fired his agent. Freeman was complicit in his leaving. He might have gotten bad advice but he was still calling the shots.

If people wanna believe FF, thats fine by me.

Just let me know what having your head in the sand that long feels like.

FF tried to hold us (the team he supposedly wanted to stay with) hostage and it back fired on him. If given the choice he’d come back no doubt. He played chicken and lost.

Stop it Freeman. You tried to get cute and you lost out.

Enjoy playing on the super team that the Braves will beat in the NLCS.

Swanson is hitting the ball harder than ever before by about 1 mph, and has increased his average launch angle by about 2 degrees. Those may be real gains that result in real offensive gains, but it still doesn’t support his current .385 BABIP.

Swanson is likely a true talent ~.800 OPS guy now who plays above average SS. There are deals that make sense for the Braves, but probably not $150M+.

I still think the play is to sit back with Arcia at SS and wait for a bargain SS to sign late.

What would you look at in terms of decreased defensive ability? Spring Speed?

Yeah, that whole article about the FF situation is pretty bogus. As mentioned, he "told" his agent he only wanted to be in Atlanta and that the 6th year was not a sticking point. Then his agents go rogue and give AA an "ultimatum" that FF says he didn't view it that way. Then the Braves trade for Olson 2 days later.

If he wanted to remain here, he could have called AA, asked him what the best offer he'd given his agents, and taken the deal.

This all screams that he wanted to leave.

Love Freddie, but come on dude.

If this were truly the case, I feel even LESS sorry for him.

I have plenty of sympathy for people who are wronged when circumstances beyond their control arise - not so much for morons who acted stupidly. Considering the several generations of his family's wealth that was being discussed, if Freddie really WAS "out of the loop" his picture should go beside the definition of moron in the updated Urban Dictionary.

For swanson.....I just don't think he's an impact bat. I hope he is for us this year, but I don't think that is his true talent.

The best thing at the plate is he turns on fastballs and he'll lose that with age. The best thing overall is his defense and I don't think that will stick around long term. He's not some crazy athlete out there, but he's more than you think.

If we are spending 150 million, then I'd rather step up and get a true impact bat like Correa. A guy that you could move off of SS and still love his bat production as he gets older.

I'm not looking to pay Dansby a ton. I'm still expecting him to cool off like he always does. But if he does this all year, good luck on your next journey.

Bowman's article on FF....

If FF heard about the requests and knew "he wasn't a brave anymore," then he should have called agents or AA and set it right.

They thought they had the Braves over a barrel and they overplayed their hand. I can't support the I always wanted to be a brave given those two offers and a one hour time line. I can't support I always wanted to be a brave when he signed that deal with the dodgers for less than he was offered.

Still going to cheer him. Great Brave. But he prioritized money over staying in ATL. That is his right. But don't lie about it.
