I gotta imagine Andrus is snatched up quick. Strange that the A's released him, unless he just requested his release.

He did - at least to an extent. Saw a blurb a couple days ago about him voicing his frustration about being a part-time player.

He has a vesting option for next year -- I believe it's 550 plate appearances. The A's were clearly not going to let him reach that threshold, tried to keep him from getting there by benching him and he forced their hand with his public comments.

That being said, he probably wouldn't be too enthusiastic about a back-up role here, though at least it would be on a competitive team.
 
I agree that with all this money being handed out and nothing given to Fried could mean that or Fried wants to go back to LA and get paid.

or maybe AA doesnt wanna give out long-term deals to pitchers. He probably wants around the Musgrove contract or more, and no idea if AA is willing to go there.

DeSoto co in Mississippi basically is memphis. Probably just went to a better hospital there. His parents might even work in memphis; tons of people live in DeSoto (Southaven and olive branch) bc less taxes and well, it's safer. BTW, wiki says Austin and wife live in cold water, ms
 
Astros got a cake walk to the world series this year.

Yankees arent terrible but they've been slumping lately. Outside of them, yeah it's hard to see anyone beat them, playoffs you never know what can happen i guess though.
