Braves in on Yasmany Tomas

Glad we didn't sign Tomas. Moncada is the guy who best fits out needs. Plus he has a much higher upside.
 
Gonna be a longgg offseason. Who does the front office plan on playing in RF? I don't see how this offense will be anything better than slightly below average for a long time, and is ganna be downright awful next year. Hopefully I'm missing the big picture but I just don't see it. I understood the Heyward trade, but we have to improve offensively if we don't resign Jup(highly doubt we will,) and this seemed like the best way to do it and stay young.
 
Since the Giants missed out on Tomas (who they wanted apparently to try at third), tell them we'll give them CJ for free if you take his full contract. :)

Well, there are always fall back solutions like Jordan and Mondesi. Or Garrett Anderson, or a Mark Kotsay.

Then you gotta hope that someone somewhere finds their inner Charles Thomas.
 
Gonna be in the cellar for the next 3-4 years.

Barring something catostraphic happening.

Have to assume that if we passed on Tomas at that price we may be all-in on Moncada and more serious about Lester than I thought.

$ seems reasonable, but the opt out at year 4 factors pretty big here. Seems like the kind of contract gimmick that the Braves FO would want to stay away from so as not to set a precedent. Slightly disappointed, but certainly not devastated. I prefer my corner outfielders with better defense. Dave Cameron mentioned tonight that some scouts saw Tomas as a DH. Still, he's got to be a better LF defender than Gattis.

We arent getting Lester and will probably get outbid on Moncada.

Dont get your hopes up for either.
