Braves in on Yasmany Tomas

We arent getting Lester and will probably get outbid on Moncada.

Dont get your hopes up for either.

But if you look at these deals, there's an argument to be made that these organizations are beginning a new era of truly bad contracts. They have this extra radio/TV money to spend and are throwing it at the flavor of the month. I fully expect Lester and Moncada to wind up somewhere with an absurd contract that could well end up costing some hotshot his job.

Let's focus on trying to re-sign Upton. If he says no, then save your money for spring training, when so many people will be getting cut because their new teammates are breaking the budget. Even thought the Braves acted quickly with Heyward, I like to turtle much more than the hare this offseason.

I refuse to believe the Braves couldn't match the dollars of that contract. The only possibility is that they refused to give him the opt out clause. It doesn't really make sense since even 4 years would keep Tomas in Atlanta for the first 2 years of the new stadium. The Braves must just be absolutely inflexible with things like no trade and opt out clauses.

Where do the Braves to from here? Who knows, but there isn't really any other offense available that is young and not outrageously expensive.
