Braves interested in CK and DK

Rather sign DK over CK.

Starting rotation right now is a mess.

- Gausman is awful right now.
- Dont trust Teheran to keep this up.
- Fried been getting rocked lately.
- Soroka will need his innings monitored.
- Folty's been up and down.

Depending what the price, i think at most it would be a 3 year deal, maybe 1-2 years. But the rotation needs something right now. Not sure they sign him still, but he'd be a much needed addition.

I largely agree with your assessment. Braves SPs xwOBA so far (not including Folty's start today):

Mike Foltynewicz 0.347
Kevin Gausman 0.319
Julio Teheran 0.318
Max Fried 0.304
Mike Soroka 0.278

That's a #2 stud who is likely on an innings limit, a solid #3 who will also likely be limited a bit, a couple #4s, and a guy everyone hopes is figuring it out after an injury scare.

DK will take a while to be MLB ready, so at that time some of this will probably have sorted itself out.

I would be shocked if it's anything more than a 4 month deal, possibly with an option for 2020...but probably just $10M+ for the rest of 2019.

I'd be fine if it was a 2 year deal. We're probably non-tendering Gausman this winter anyway. He's projected to get around 11-13 million, DK would take that.

omg only 70 RBI! terrible sign for a player!
do you not see the difference between committing $23M for one year, and $45M for 2.5? on a reliever, no less?

There's a list of players a mile long who could have 70rbi batting in the 2-4 spots. Donaldson doesn't suck, but the money could have been better used elsewhere.

One day we will all realize that RBI is a meaningless stat when using it to determine a players worth.

What does he do then? Walk? I don't need my cleanup hitter walking. I need him talking swings.

You might need that. But the Braves just need him to be a 3 WAR player to be worth his contract. That comes from his overall offensive production plus what he does in the field.

Dallas' agent probably just trying to get the Phillies to do something stupid. I really want Dallas, but it doesn't seem like we ever get this kind of deal done

Seems to be something to this one... DOB was back pedaling and Bowman was retweeting one of the reports.

So you’d rather him strikeout? And who cares where he’s hitting in the order? He really should be hitting 2nd. Would him walking be ok then? JD is doing exactly what we need him to be doing. Jus because the old fashioned stats you keep quoting don’t show that doesn’t mean it’s not true.

Old fashioned stats, lol. If I want walks, we could just sign Jose Bautista for a lot less. I want my 4 hitter driving in runs.

You are correct though, he should be batting higher up...but he's not. If we need him to bat .248, then I guess we're getting our money's worth.

We have someone else that doesnt know how to properly value players in the modern era.
