Braves sign Jonny Gomes

Good signing, would it kill people on this board to be happy about something for a change? It won't kill us to go through some rebuilding years. Sometimes rebuilding years can be fun. Nobody is expecting much from this team and it's possible they could overachieve. No that won't mean a playoff berth but they could still have some good moments and be fun to watch. I hope the mood around here improves when the games start, otherwise it's going to be a miserable 6 months.

Why does it feel like the Braves are like an Independent League team? Take whomever they can just to fill a roster.

Some of these guys should be playing slow pitch softball.

Too bad the ticket-prices and promotions won't be at Independent League-level next season.

Frankly, I'd prefer the team sign Indy guys at the league minimum over inking menial contributors like Gomes for $4MM.

As I see it, there's a right way to suck and a wrong way.

We've got enough Johnsons and a BJ to find out.

I have yet to find an explanation

Teams he leaves seem to have huge downturns
 
I hope every FA we signed this year gets flipped at the deadline for something.

If we want a difference maker we're going to have to pay a ton of money for a Cuban and get lucky that he's actually good. Only other way I see it is for Minor to be great and get flipped for a position player difference maker. If we draft someone they'll be years and years away.
 
I see we signed another washed up has been (if you can call him a has been). This year's offense is going to be brutal. Nothing puts butts in the stands like an 0-4.

I just love broken records that come back to life every time some of us disagree with Heyward, Matt, thethe and co. Wouldn't it be so great if we all just saw things exactly as they do? What a great utopia that could turn into! Screw forming your own opinion, that makes no one happy! And it's time to get happy, will it kill us to get happy?! I think this is a fantastic signing in every way. I'm thrilled! 2012 is going to wash away the taste of the '11 collapse and send Chipper out in style! My prediction for Jonny - .262 .377 .491 .868
