Braves trade David Hale and Gus Schlosser for...

All prospects are long-shots. There are 750 players on the planet that get MLB roster spots in a given year.

But the kid finished A-ball as a hitter in a heavily favorable hitting environment. He is not young for the league and we had to trade a pre-arby pitcher who showed he has potential to be a #5 starter. Not a good trade in my book but I don't get paid to do this so my opinion is probably wrong.

No idea what the value is for these guys. Hale seems like a guy that the braves grow on trees. So I'm ok turning him into a position prospect and see if we hit lightning.

I think CB needs someone to push him.

I think the plan is to sacrifice one of our scrap heap guys to the 5th spot. Maybe we get lucky like Harang last year and we flip him. But I think the plan is for the kid from the Astros to come up near mid year and get some innings so he can start 2016 w/o losing a control year (and improve control/command in AAA for 1/2 yr).

Or we flip Minor at deadline to make room for the Astro's kid.

Cap is a saber/peripheral guy. I think he is going to be looking for a rotation with power arms and guys with stuff. All the trades are for high upside guys, not low floor guys. Good luck to Hale.

Its a fair point that it has been relatively easy for the Braves to develop #5 guys but I don't think that should lower the value of that type of player...especially in his pre-arby years.

It would be a big mistake to trade Minor right now. I hope the front office isn't even contemplating that. Plus, he was the last first round pick of Roy Clark so I would have to believe he still has strong backing in the organization.

Minor is gone IMO.

I agree that now is not the time. I bet the goal is for him to rebound and then trade him at the deadline or in the offseason. At least I hope that happens.

Minor being Minor is a valuable guy. LH with some stuff and controll. We have a lot of options to fill 2 rotation spots in the next two years. If we can flip Minor for a long term answer in the OF, that would be great.

I don't know what the value of 5 guys are...anyone have trades for such guys.

My point is that the Braves can replace Hale. I'd rather them swing for the fences on a position product b/c I know they can develop another Hale. No idea if they can develop hitters. I know FF and Heyward were recent hitters developed. But it's not many.

While true, it's still telling when someone higher on a prospect feels to need point out that he's a long-shot unlike he does with most others.

Good move Hart. With all the pitchers we've acquired this offseason we'll need more catchers to catch them all.

Maybe this is a PR move and Hart just wanted to make sure they had someone willing to catch Chipper when we make the playoffs.

I don't get paid to do it either. However, as I mentioned, I have seen Briceno play several times.

I just don't understand Harts moves. There aren't many GMs I can think of that you just have no clue why the moves were made.

Any scouting reports on Chris O'Dowd?

Non-factor - throw-in for Schlosser.

I'll say this for Hart: he may have made the on-field team a whole lot worse this off-season, but he's acquired a few guys that I have reason to believe will make this board's schtick a whole lot better.

Oh, for sure. He's made some moves that will do wonders for morale around here, though I'm pretty sure it's just going to add fuel to the fire we're using to roast our morals.

This team is going to be awful in 2015. I hope there is a Strasburg/Harper stud the Braves can draft with the first pick in the draft!

There is no chance the Braves have the #1 pick. The pitching will rid the team to a low to mid 70 win season.
