Dansby being sent down to AAA

Wonder what happens if camargo falls into a big slump now the next few weeks. Do they bring Swanson right back up?

Naw - they'll bundle Dansby, Albies, Wright, Acuna, and Maitan to the Angels and get Simba back.

Of course he'll then go back to being a glove-only guy with less range as he gets more expensive.

Betcha we could even put Markakis with those guys if Coppy calls Theo and asks for Heyward back.

I'm not sure where the line between horrible and below average is. He hit .216, struck out 25% of the time and had a wRC+ of 73. That's honestly probably about right for him about now. April was unlucky, June was lucky. May was pretty much who he probably is.

And if he had that line right now (even that is probably a tad low because of the low BABIP), he would be about a 1-win player and certainly should not be benched or sent down to AAA.

I'd disagree with that. I don't think .216 with wRC+ of 73 is particularly deserving of being in a lineup.

I just hope this isn't a Francoeur situation where he was sent to the minors for one series and brought back.

As for Snitker, the man has to go. I don't want him anywhere near our next wave of young, great pitching. He can't do anything correct when it comes to pitching. He either leaves them in too long or absurdly yanks them early. With the pen, he puts guys like Ian Krol in high-leverage situations when we fans know that Krol sucks.

This probably should have been done three weeks ago, but Camargo was still in his test phase.

This isn't the end of the world for the Braves or Dansby. I hate to bring up the Twins, but they did the same thing with Torii Hunter midway through his second big league season (and he had a lot more minor league experience than Dansby). Hunter said later it was the best thing that ever happened to him. Twins did the same thing with Byron Buxton last year as well. Dansby was rushed and suffered as a result. He should have never been above AA last season and should have started this year in AAA.

Jace Peterson starting at SS tonight over Dansby.

Surely this is due to some logistical thing, right?

Mets did same with conforto last season

Side question- how long does he need to stay down to get an extra year of control?

Players get one day of ML service time per calendar day on the ML roster or DL, up to a maximum of 172 days. He came up on August 17th, so they would get back a little more than that time back if he stays down all year.

I'm glad Dansby is being sent down where he will play and hopefully work himself out of his funk instead of sitting on the bench and accomplishing nothing significant.
