DOB: Braves offseason about to get a lot busier. - Gamel released.

I'd offer Wood/Sims, Bethancourt, Terdo, and whatever else they wanted for Sale. He's exactly what we want and is super cheap for a long time. And don't say well we may have that in Wood or Sims. Bc Sale is proven and everything we would hope they become.

Yeah, they do, they are 2-3 years away from contending.

Rebuilding traditionally means slashing payroll and reconstructing your roster with cheap prospects and 'savvy' FA signings. The White Sox aren't doing that. They just signed Jose Abreu to a six year mega-deal, and are hanging on to relics like Paul Konerko. Maybe this Sale chatter is the start of it, but I highly doubt it.

Now appears that if #Nationals sign a LH reliever, it will be Howell or Downs. Other clubs getting feeling O'Flaherty will go back to Braves

Bowman's article ends with a quote from Wren about patience.

I think we'll see Wren wait until the last week of Jan or Feb to move. He's wait for the game of musical chairs to run low on seats. There will be some veteran starters, veteran relievers, and some teams wanting to trade. Then he'll see what deal he can get.

We'll hope someone decides to trade 50 cent on the dollar like JUp. Or someone like Garza gets left w/o a dance partner. Maybe Maholm back for 1 million.

I don't think 50 cent is as valuable since he was shot 34 times. He just doesn't have the gitty up on his fastball anymore

I don't want Garza... He's fragile and even though he has the raw stuff, he has never been able to consistently transfer it to the field. Garza is not a significant upgrade and there are cheaper similar options... He's second tier and Medlen/Teheran/Minor and possibly even Wood are all better. I don't get the love for Garza at all... He is simply not that good and extremely overrated.

Also, Sale would be amazing at the right price but his mechanics make me nervous... I feel like he's destined for a serious injury before his career is over.

@Ken_Rosenthal: Sources: #Indians listening on Masterson with idea of exploring longer-term options.

Masterson's somewhat interesting, but I'd imagine he's probably viewed much like Samardzija - one of those guys who may well be capable of taking that "next step" if Roger can coax it out of him, but not likely someone Wren's willing to overpay for. While I don't think Sims will ever surpass his presently perceived ceiling, is there really a need to sacrifice him in a deal where the potential return may be a fifth #2 (along with Teheran, Minor, Medlen, and Beachy) that you have to pay now?

That said, count me as "all-in" if a Wood/Cabrera/Terdoslavich type of package gives you the chance to find out if Roger can get Masterson or Samardzija "over the hump".

Plus, it's not like Chicago is some mid-market team that has to even bother with rebuilding.

Yep: as long as Reinsdorf keeps selling corporate packages to Bulls games hand-over-fist, those White Sox coffers won't be running dry. Just don't ask him to pay the NBA luxury-tax.

We've been busy alright.

Re-signing Ramiro Pena might be the most underrated move of the hot-stove offseason in the bigs.
