The “Elon isn’t really that smart!” rapid responders around here crack me up…idk why it’s so triggering for some.
To be fair, I think this cuts both ways. Elon is certainly not *not* smart, but because of his enormous wealth and public image, he’s been given too much credibility in arenas he hasn’t earned, such as auditing the entire federal government despite not being an auditor. When people would suggest things like maybe trying to get a couple million people to send his team an email to prove they exist is dumb, his business success or the industries he’s in would be used to bat away that criticism despite the two things having essentially nothing to do with each other.
I’m perhaps a bit biased by the fact that I think the man is an absolute twat-waffle of a human being (politics aside, I didn’t like Save the Planet Elon either) whose need for validation borders on deranged. But I think the main reason the sentiment that Elon isn’t smart has risen so much is because his intelligence is often thrown out as a shield against valid criticisms of the dumb or weird things he says or does.

Its legit sad. The MAGA cult ruined this guy. He got in the fight, he put his money and reputation up for grabs. Mqt will tell us he's a big boy and knew what was coming. I agree... but I bet he thought Trump and the GOP wouldn't completely betray him in the process of putting all that at risk. Frankly shame on him for thinking Trump was up for the fight. Trump never is. Its probably why Elon sided with RDS at the start.

Musk is an exceptional capitalist but that doesn't make you especially smart. Look at Trump.
