It's OVER 5,000!
I loved the pick at 44, I hated what we did at #3.
Didn't like the strategy, but looks like got 3 good arms. Would much rather have had Lewis at 3. They were probably hoping a good bat fell to 40, and it didn't work the way they wanted. We will never hear that though. Either way, 3 good arms to help through shutouts.
True, which makes it even more important to target the elite ceiling guys when you draft third and not settle for a couple guys who are much longer shots to be aces.
I like Anderson. If we picked 12th I'd have been happy. I'm not happy with him at 3 even if it gets us Wentz.
With our system the way it is, I'd have taken the risk on Pint or Groome's ceilings. Even Puk.
Ah, that's right. So we still don't have a surplus? haha
No HS pitcher taken in the top 15 or so has a ceiling of a mid-rotation starter.

I like Pint's ceiling better than Anderson's. Anderson screams solid, middle rotation to me.
Anderson is a fine pitcher but I don't see him as a top 10 talent. Without draft slotting I don't see him sniffing the top 10.
Not when you consider the actuarial outcomes for HS pitchers drafted in various portions of the draft.
Would you rather have benson/jones or Anderson/wentz?
Not saying that's Anderson's ceiling. I'm saying Pint has a higher ceiling and is more likely to be an ace than. Anderson could surprise me and be an ace. However, I think it's more likely he's a Matt Wisler type middle of the rotation starter.
I don't hate the way this has gone, but acting like the international draft will cure our offensive woes is a little crazy to me. We're talking about 18-year-old HS arms being far away. If that's true, then why are we expecting 16-year-old international signings to fix anything in the next few years?

We've had by far the worst offense in baseball over the last three seasons. Apparently we're going to buy our way out of that on the international market. Sounds good. What's 3-4 more years? I think I'm going back on self imposed hiatus until the "long haul" gets here. At least we have the Olympics this summer. Rowing events in Rio's raw sewage Zika water should be interesting.
I think you're selling Anderson a bit short. There's a strong argument he's at worst a top ten pick.
