DRAFT IN PROGRESS THREAD ... What's past is preamble

"Bridges used Mike Mussina as a comp for Anderson, who has a fastball that rests between 91-95 mph and good command of both his changeup and curveball. He has shown and advanced approach through his ability to move his fastball and consistently keep it down in the zone."

""I think pitching is a lost art," Bridges said. "A lot of kids throw for the radar gun and they don't learn the art of pitching.""

Anderson isn't a flame thrower. That's not his game. He's got good command of multiple pitches that he knows how to use. If you're expecting him to sit 94-97 you're likely to be disappointed.

I expect him to sit 93-96... Not far off at all from what he does already. And I don't think you've actually watched any video on him in depth. You haven't seen the movement on that fastball. And his curve is already plus with a potentially plus change.

I'm not saying he's gonna be a bust. Not at all. I think he's got a good chance to be very good for a very long time. I think his advanced stuff and advanced control give him a lower risk of flaming out.

I just don't see ace without something taking a big step forward. Something going from plus to elite.

Just me, but I'm not going to complain about the Braves draft tonight. You gotta have pitching, that is a fact of life in professional baseball. The Braves got three who could be good ones. Also got a guy who seems to have some good power at the bat, though there might be a question about his future position. I think this was a good night for the Braves. Now we'll see what day two brings.

Man, I hope Cumberland can play the OF. If not, the NL will probably have the DH by the time he comes up and we could stick him there.

Going to be even more loaded when the international period starts. Maitan would instantly be #1 or 2.

Ian Anderson reminds me so much of Andy Petitte's delivery, minus bringing the hands over his head.

His slidestep, arm angle, delivery, and finish is very much like Petittes.
