Farewell to Wood, Peraza, Jimmy Johns, and Avilans.

I simply do not understand the need to rush trading Wood. Wood for Olivera is bad, but it can be rationalized and argued, I suppose. Once you move into trading Peraza and Chris Johnson is not a part of this, then it falls on its face.

That's a good point. IF Cjoh was included with his contract for them to eat, I'm down. We have A LOT of money going forward.

@kileymcd Know you wrote a lot on Olivera this winter and that the trade isn't finalized, but any initial thoughts on Braves-Dodgers swap?

@enasti30 I'll need to see all the names first but getting Olivera for multiple years at that price is better than most prospects

impossibru!!

Heyward has been at the epicenter of St. Louis' success. Let's not try to discount the poor guy's contributions for the sake of argument.

I never said that we 'lost the deal' if the Cardinals won the World Series, just that they accomplished exactly what they set out to do if they win it.

I didn't discount his contributions in the least.

Good talk... I'm also the only person in the world who shares this view... I know.

Read some discussion on this trade from an unbiased source, posters going back and forth on MinorLeagueball.com. Pretty much when they saw what we'd be giving up initially, they thought for sure we'd be getting Seager or Urias back from the Dodgers, or else we be getting hosed.

Just in case anybody was wondering. Wood is 28th in FIP since the start of 2014. He's also 24 and under control through 2019. That's a lot to give up. But I guess since he's going to have TJ within 2 years again it doesn't matter.

...I've never not said that. He absolutely is. They're totally content with the deal IF they win - I've said that.

Then why did you say say my comment about St. Louis winning the deal by winning it all 'made little sense'?
