I'm going to travel to ATL when the new club starts play. I know that a lot of folks in my area (upstate SC) are excited about the prospect. The more the US gets exposure in the WC, the more potential for converting fans in places like this.
I think we've found one of our national debates for the 2024 Presidential Debate... Is soccer destroying America? The right will give thanks to Ann Coulter for starting the movement in 2014.
Well, we should've seen more of Julian Green this World Cup. That finish was sick. If Dempsey could've done half as well on his myriad chances, we're through. Oh well.
Seriously, Dempsey really disappointed me. Should've had 2. I also don't understand how Wondo missed that point blank chance (was totally onside). Our back line was actually really good.. We just couldn't keep possession.
Even today many of the shots on Timmy weren't super threatening. SOme were absolute stunners of course but that's what great goalies do. They make the big saves when called upon. More of them were saves hemakes every day.
Belgium dominated possession but the US was threatening by crashing them on the wings. I think if the US had Jozy up front and healthy they score within 90 minutes.
Cmon Zeets, they had a blitzkrieg on Howard, many chances were one on one chances that Howard was barely able to get a foot or arm on or shots were just outside the net.
We have a ways to go, but certainly have some promising young players that hopefully grow in the next 4 years.
We saw last night why everyone had Belguim as their darkhorse and also why they've been such a disappointment. They have all the tools to be a world cup winning side. I've been extremely impressed with Origi (who I think is like 19?) They have creativety, strength, technical ability, and world class defenders (Kompany). But, they lack that killer instinct and seem to go through the motions at times.
As a Spurs follower, I was dumbfounded that Vertoghen could destroy the right side of our defense as a LB. He's not even a natural LB and is uncomfortable going forward.
However, USA put more energy/effort than any other team in the tourney and that is at least something to be proud of.

ESPN having skin in the game helps too. They're basically singlehandedly keeping the NBA afloat. With their interest in soccer they'll advertise heavy and it will be good for the USA.
Most people that follow US soccer were dumbfounded that Green was included....most think it was just to ensure he has a spot for the future.
All of a sudden he puts in a goal on his first touch and HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLAYING MORE!
I love this argument. Did I say he shouldn't be included? (hint: no.) Then why would you say this to me?
LOLWUT
Bc anyone saying Green deserved more time probably doesn't watch much US soccer.
