Fredi Gonzalez Rant Thread.

Fans and Managers are always going to have differences of opinion. When it works he is brilliant and when it doesn't he is a bum.

Thank goodness teams aren't run by fans. He will not be fired, so we need to let go of that idea.

The team will learn from this year, and be better in the future. Next year all of these young guys will be more mature and more consistent. they will be able to plug a couple of big holes (2B) and hopefully our pitching will be healthier.

The future is bright. enjoy it!

I am not positive, honestly. I think it is a combination. Under Fredi, the bullpen is noticeable tired by the end of the year. That happened with Bobby, too, but not near as often. And Fredi also doesn't do well with the bench. So, when they are called on to give the regulars rest late in the season, they are usually rusty and don't perform all that well. Both of those are contributing factors.

But the reason we did so poorly this September was our hitting was HORRIBLE outside of a few guys. Upton and Freeman were the only ones who hit over .300 that month. McCann hit .179. How can you blame that performance on a manager?

Fredi determines who is going to play. Look at how little rest people got. Johnson was pretty much out there every game even after he hurt his foot/toe. Upton was out there constantly and didn't hit over .300. Freeman was out there constantly and had very little left for the playoffs. Same with Upton. The bench is there for a reason. Constanza had six at-bats in September and made the playoffs. Why didn't he play for Upton a bit? We had pitchers get more at-bats in September than he did. Laird? Why was he only in eight games when McCann played like complete crap? Why did Loe get even one start over Hale?

We can go on and on. It is the job of the players to perform as best they can. It is the job of the manager to put them in a position to do so. Fredi does a poor job of that across the board, and in September the players seem to be too tired to make up for it. They need rest. And the bench players need consistent playing time so that can perform well when called on to give that rest.

I agree with some of what you're saying, but c'mon. McCann being tired? He had the whole first month off. Anytime Laird was put in to start over McCann this whole board was up in arms, so you can't honestly say that was the right move now. The Constanza thing is a very questionable decision that I said the same thing about. Loe, if it had worked out nobody would even be saying anything and Hale hadn't even pitched in a game yet for the Braves, he went with the veteran.

I don't have much of a problem with Gonzalez. He's very much a by-the-book guy, but so was Cox (and Bobby also went with veterans over younger guys consistently).

This ain't a rip on Kelly Johnson, but everybody gets sticky pants over Joe Maddon and starting Kelly out at DH in an elimination game when he had only had one AB in the playoffs up to that point looked a little odd to me. Of course, Joe goes with his gut so all is excused because he was being bold and thinking outside the box.

I've never been a huge Kelly Johnson guy, but if we move Uggla, I wouldn't be averse to bringing him back.

I actually think Infante is alot better of a fit and also happens to be a free agent. Would love if we got him back, he's the type of contact guy that would benefit us.

[runs into this thread] I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS MOTHER EFFER IS PUTTING BJ BACK AT THE 2-HOLE AFTER SIMMONS DID GREAT THERE YESTERDAY AND THE OFFENSE CAME ALIVE!!!!!! Whew! Ok, back to the other thread.... [runs back out to the other thread]

Fredi G should change his name from Fredi Gonzalez to Fredi Genius. Send this freakin clown down to AA to be first base coach or something.

Fredi is a moron. How does he after Jason and Simmons went off at 1 and 2 go back to putrid ass BJ at 2. We're gonna make the playoffs but he's the reason we're not gonna make it out of the first round. He doesn't know how to manage games.

Unbelievable. ..how this man has a job in MLB is beyond my comprehension. How is BJ is batting second again. The Marlins dumped him and we were told it was because he didnt get along with Hanley, when all along the Marlins knew we would pick him up. Pretty smart on the Marlins part...;)

Not really the fish haven't finished in front of us since Fredi has been here, so bad example.
