GDT 10/7, NLDS Game Two, Braves-Marlins (Braves up 1-0 in the series)

My issue with that cliche is when it’s used as an excuse for a guy having poor stuff. We used to hear it frequently about all the terrible pitchers the Braves ran out there before this good run, and it got to the point of being comical.

I fully agree that pitchers have to execute to succeed, and if that’s called “knowing how to pitch”, I am on board.

Execution is the most critical thing in all sports.

Anderson might be a guy who statcast might not tell the whole story. I don't think we're able to track the similarity of look of a fastball and changeup out of the hand. His results seem to exceed his stuff. Super impressive.

Obviously Enscheff can opine on this subject, but I thought there were tunneling stats available these days. What I think gets lost in the details is things like: Arm angle compared to other pitchers, deception with the ball (think Roy Halladay), etc..

Talent is the most critical things in all sports.

Disagree. Ian Anderson doesn't have the arm talent that that Touki, Newk, etc.. have but because of execution he's a better pitcher.

Tom Brady is an average athlete who some consider the GOAT solely on his ability to execute. You can have all the talent in the world, but without the ability to execute... you're just Newk throwing every 4th ball 5 feet outside of the zone.

I don't know if he got a playbook or a stern talking-to from Anthopolous, but Snitker's handled the pitching staff pretty well so far in the postseason.
