GDT: 7/01/14 - Braves vs. Mets

Listened to the top of the 8th on the radio. Got home and let the dogs out. Came back inside and saw Craig dominate three batters in a row.

Don't hear anyone complaining about the pen now. Remember when walden is not consistant enough to be the set up man and varvaro should be replaced because a 2.25 era with over a k an inning is not good enough lol those where the days

Varvaro has been pretty solid most of the year. The turning point has been Avilan has pitched much better lately, and Simmons is killing it in place of Carpenter, who wasn't doing very well.

I'm a fan of the Varvarian. We could do a hell of a lot worse than him, when he's properly deployed. He's been solid.

Minor will be fine please people hes a fly ball pitcher who's giving up too many homers although the amount of hits he's been giving up is way off the norm for him his strikeouts are way up Also not sure what those 3 things together really mean

Minor pitched 200 innings of outstanding ball last year. He's earned the chance to get back in the swing of things. The idea of dumping him now is nuts.

So what do you think minor's problem has been? I know in the Astros start both of the homers were on the cutter he's trying to add

I am not saying we should dump him. I mentioned a few weeks back in a Samardjiza thread that I would include Minor in a deal to get Samardjiza.

Minor has also been bad over a stretch of time before his great 2013 campaign. I don't know off hand what his ERA is after tonight. Maybe around 5.00? I think he's a low to mid 4 ERA
guy.
