GDT 7/13/22: Braves vs Mets - Lefties and Defense

I know I'm biased....but it seems like sequencing has killed us this year. How many solo HRs do we have? Seems like most of them.

I would like this team to have one more guy who is an OBP machine to keep the line moving and maybe be on base for some of these blasts.

If Happ is really a 360 OBP person for next year and half of this year....that would be ideal. Even if he's a only a 360 b/c you sit him vs tough lefites.

Todays game makes me even more pissed that Snit punter Mondays game by throwing O Day and Stephens in instead of Smith or Minter.

knowing Jansen was coming off the DL today.

Every team has that kind of adversity. We've been missing Albies, still haven't seen Acuna get in the zone, have had to endure collapses by both Duvall and Rosario, are still missing Soroka, etc. I also expect AA to do something at the break to shore up LF.

The Braves have made up something like 9 games in 6 weeks. The Mets have a small lead in the division but are essentially going to be playing catchup talent wise.

Like I said, it can be good that this happened so the holes and areas of improvement become more obvious.

Something about this season feels familiar to 99. 3B not making the AS game. Making a run in the 2nd half to win MVP. Taking down the Mets to win the division.

He might have punted from the bullpen usage standpoint, but we were already down with Fried's meh outing, and our offense got dominated by Scherzer and then blew multiple chances to tie it. So it didn't matter.

We were only down 1 run when he put O'Day in.

Minter and Smith were available.

We had the 9 hardest hit balls in that game. We were clawing back.

We haven't used Smith the entire series but using Jansen today in a 5 run deficit.

We were down 2-1 entering the 8th after missing a chance to tie it in the seventh. In the bottom of the 8th, we had second and third, down 3-1, and Dansby went swinging out of his shoes first pitch, trying to pull a down-and-away pitch and we squandered the opportunity. I didn't want him to throw those guys, either, but it had no bearing on what the offense did. I was more pissed that we didn't have the infield in on the groundout that made it 4-1 in the ninth.

And I have zero clue why we used Jansen today.

Silver lining today is Rosario may be rounding into form and AA hopefully won't need to trade for a LHH OFer.

No confidence snit will use this platoon correctly. If the nats bring in a lhp tomorrow night, and Rosario gets a hit, he'll start vs a lhp. Snit goes by gut, not %s

I'm just trying to think of what team or teams would accept Rosario back in a trade and how much money we would have to eat. Because I have no interest in him being a fifth outfielder and wasting a roster spot.

Rosario and Shuster for Happ. Cubs could use Rosario next year to fill Happs spot and get a good pitching prospect back. They have the money.

Sheesh, they won 2 out of 3 and didn't look great doing it. Big time statement. A statement in July would have been coming in and sweeping us in three laughers.

They look at it as they didn't have degrom, mccann and probably someone else.

They don't know/care we don't have Ozzie or Jansen.

We hit 6 HRs in a 3 game series and scored 8 runs.
