GDT 7/13/22: Braves vs Mets - Lefties and Defense

Watching this series, the Braves are significantly better than the Mets. The Mets insanely lucky start and the Braves very slow start is the only reason the Mets are in it. This is not a very good team.

Agree.
I feel really good about tracking them down and distancing ourselves in the second half. They end with a stretch like we had where we won 10+ in a row, so we need to get up 5 before the last month.

My only worry is if they make the team better. Not DeGrom as much as the line up. They have some options in the minors who look like they can hit. They have holes at 3B and DH specifically. They could also use those guys to outbid the Braves on anyone.

I still think this 800 OPS guy he's been is not real. At least not at this age.

I expect him to be closer to the 700 OPS guy most of the projections have for him. Seeing his approach and what he's banked, I think 750 is reasonable. But I don't expect an impact bat at 21 with a limited number of professional at bats. With COVID disruption he might have the least amount of professional at bats before the big leagues ever...unless someone went straight to MLB.

Yeah. The defense has been really good so .700+ with exceptional center field defense is something I'll take every day. He's also allowed us to shift Duvall over to left which improves the defense there too and makes sure Ozuna doesn't see the field.

Every hanger Morton has thrown has ended up out of the park and we've missed about a dozen from Bassit. Geez.

Also..:Some our hitters have had downright just and embarrassing series…”tired” or not …they’ve been awful…and a few of backups that have been hot are fckn useless lately.

Yep. Offense should be absolutely embarrassed after today's game.

Well, the we got smacked by a team missing 2 of their better positional starters. They'll get both back soon, along with degrom. Their owner will make big moves at the break. Not sure we gonna win this division

Every team has that kind of adversity. We've been missing Albies, still haven't seen Acuna get in the zone, have had to endure collapses by both Duvall and Rosario, are still missing Soroka, etc. I also expect AA to do something at the break to shore up LF.

The Braves have made up something like 9 games in 6 weeks. The Mets have a small lead in the division but are essentially going to be playing catchup talent wise.

I wouldn't be against trading for Freddie and moving Olson to DH. His defense leaves something to be desired.

Don't mind me... look at graph of my fandom below

Try to get Jackson Stephens two innings -- or use Stephens for an inning and maybe use Kenley for an inning just to get him back in the game.

A platoon won't work with snit. As soon as one side gets a hit in the previous game Vs a non-platoon advantage, snit will drop the platoon.
