GDT 7/2 — Drew Says: Pescado Muerto!

If by “get going” you mean be a roughly average player overall who should be batting at the bottom of the lineup, then yes, he’s already that minus a bit of luck this year.

If you’re still expecting more from him than the almost 2 win player he’s settled into being, then no, he’s probably not ever going to “get going”. He’s fine as a SS who bats 7 or 8 or 9…not so fine batting 5th.

I suspect the Braves will not be paying Swanson $10M next season. I’m guessing his equally mediocre, but much cheaper, replacement is currently in AAA.

If he'd just get back to normal bb and k rates, it would help. He's way down on bb, and way high on k. His BAbip is low too. there's realistic improvement that can be had

I have to agree with Enscheff on the Swanson issue. With the SS market coming up that would be the easiest fix to the offense if AA STILL believes in Waters/Pache.

It's just crazy funny the marlins DO pitch teams inside a TON, but somehow Ronald is the ONLY one constantly hit.

Donny is just mad bc the umps got it right, for once

So we've hit Realmuto 10 times since 2018 and have hit Brian Anderson more times than the Marlins have hit Acuna... the problem is how it all started with Urena

The Braves Core Ticket Purchasing Base as described by JS is going to be livid when Anthopoulos doesn't bring back Dansby for the money he's gonna want.

And how many of those were fastballs? Anderson’s 6 HBP have mostly been on slow breaking balls. It makes a difference.

Also, Acuña has been hit 6 times now including the playoffs. 4 of them on the first pitch of the AB.

Saw Lopez' comments after the game and immediately thought "BS." If the pitch that hit Acuna was supposedly a sinker, it must have one helluva downward break because it was going up-and-in right out of Lopez' hand. Urena was just more blatant about it.

In another matter, is it me or does Don Mattingly look like he could be Kurt Russell's younger brother?

I mean, did you not read everything I said? "the problem is how it all started with Urena"

I thought that statement would make it obvious I was referring to the fastball problem...

It may have been on purpose last night... I'm not defending the Marlins here... I'm simply saying the Marlins need to realize it doesn't have to do with the number of times as much as the way it has been done (fastballs, etc... since apparently I have to spell it out for Cy)

What a shame about Soroka. Hopefully Ynoa can come back strong because going five deep like this will lead to 90+ wins.

Which is fine (so long as he's not making $10 million per) - just another example of Snitker's ineptness. I don't think ANYBODY (Snitker included) could reasonably explain having him "hit" where he does in the Braves' order. Also another reason to make a trade sooner rather than later - you have to expect Heredia to turn into a pumpkin at some point, so just think how many rallies will be ended and games you'll cost yourself if Snitker's allowed to keep hitting Dansby there because "he'll eventually get it going and hit his way out of this"?

It doesn't have to be a trade for one of the most sought-after guys - if he can't get Gallo, Haniger, or Bryant that's OK. The problem is that you're not going to get more out of SS or Heredia or Almonte than you're already getting or have gotten. d'Arnaud's return may somewhat fix the black hole that Catcher has become lately, but that STILL leaves you with nothing in the lower-third of the lineup. We're talking about how we should make up ground over the next 8 games, but the schedule turns nasty after the break. Expecting Heredia, Almonte, and Contreras to have the "bottom feeding the top" against playoff-caliber teams is crazy.

If AA wants back in this, he's going to have to be open to slightly overpaying to get someone like Frazier or Seager (with Riley moving to LF) and potentially replacing Dansby with Arcia - even if it's just in the hope that it gets his attention and gets you the "old Dansby" back down the stretch and for the postseason.

Was pretty obvious
