GDT: 7/31/13 Rockies at Braves

How huge would it be if April actually stayed above average the rest of the season? This means we could actually get runs early and put pressure on the opposing team to score. Whether he's hitting #3 or #2, it means we could potentially score in the first inning every game.

Never said he wasn't pitching great but it's one year...if he keeps it up, I'd reconsider. Untill then, I'd take a guy with Felix upside over Minor.

For real?

Walker has more talent, that's for sure. But more top prospects have crashed and burn than I care to count.

Minor has a low 3 FIP right now.

Yeah, I just don't get it. Minor has pitched at ace level now for well over 200 innings. There is no reason to think this won't continue.

I'm not saying I don't think Walker is any good. I just don't know how you can forgo the sure thing here.

So you'd consider a guy who hasn't faced a major league hitter over a guy thats been getting them out at an Ace clip for the last 200+ innings?

If we were in a postion like the Mets or Marlins you may make that trade, but not when you're leading a division by nearly a dozen games.

If you were the Marlins you might make that deal. But if you're a team like the Mets and you have money you would be stupid to trade Minor. The guy is as close to an ace as it gets.

Just cuz he pitches once every 5 days, not as much impact as an everyday player.

Keep in mind that ace pitchers face about 850 hitters per year.

Position players get maybe 650 PA's per year.

So from that perspective, pitchers impact the season more than hitters. But that is not considering defense/base running.

When you're trading for a prospect, it's obviously a crap-shoot. But if you give me the choice of Minor or Felix Hernandez, I take Felix every day and that's what scouts have said Walker's ceiling is.

It's not that difficult to comprehend what I'm saying.

If you think Minor is the guy from this year, then you don't trade him....if you think he's the guy from the previous 3 years, then you'd take Walker.

The trade was Walker + Ramirez for Freeman.....no idea how it morphed into Minor for Walker.

Your choice is not Minor or Felix. There is only one Felix. Felix was dominant at 19 years old at the major league level. Walker is going to be 21 and he MAY sniff the majors in September.

I just can't understand how you are equating Walker to felix.

Are you still comparing Walker to Felix.

He has a 5% chance of becoming Felix.

Felix dominated in the majors at 19, and is probably going to go down as one of the best starting pitchers to ever live.

Walker will be lucky to come close to that.

I'll take a scouts comparison over yours.

Sure, but the odds he becomes Felix are about 5%.

Incredibly wishful thinking on your part.

We've heard so and so is the next Felix. There is only one Felix.

Please share. I have tried to find anyone make that comparison and nobody has. THey say he has excellent stuff which nobody has denied. Please share your source.
