What he say?

They are just as mystified with the sudden change in pitch selection as me.

Wright gets a few quick outs on the fastball early. Then when he faces those hitters agian he gives them a strict diet of breaking balls. Why?

Does anyone really think the game plan vs a hitter has to change after he's literally seen 2 pitches?

slider, cutter, something hard that breaks away. He threw like 80% of the time that inning. Truly baffling.

I don’t see much horizontal movement. Looks more like a change.

Edit: they called it a cutter. I’m not doubting you by the way. You can see the spin, it’s just not doing much.

It moves pretty much exactly like an MLB quality cutter. It is a good pitch, but it isn't some elite pitch that it makes any sense to throw 30 times in an inning like he just did.

That inning looked more like something you'd see in ST when the guy decides "I'm going to work on the cutter this inning".

Maybe it looks weird because he was throwing it right down the middle? I dunno.

So far the book on Wright is that he will challenge you early with that FA the first time, then go strictly to breaking stuff the 2nd time.

He has literally done the same thing every game, and the implosion occurs when he switches tactics.
