GDT - 9.27: Game 2, Cubbies at Bravos - Seiya later, Chicago!

It’s this odd sense of pride you and other fans have in other mens’ accomplishments. As if somehow you should be proud that you watch a particular team you contribute absolutely nothing to their success.

We indeed lol.

This is such a Philosophy 101 take.

I expect more out of such a big brain, Enscheffalitis.

So don’t claim those stolen bases “won the game” as some sort ridiculous hyperbole that fails to prove any point you may have.

I’m not selling SBs short, but I did choose the word “meaningless” very poorly. They absolutely have value, and modern stats very accurately value them compared to every other thing a player can do to contribute to runs. Just because the SB sticks out as a big play in this particular game does not make it any more or less valuable. A double would have been more valuable, and wouldn’t have been celebrated as much.

When I said “meaningless” I meant it relative to everything else Acuna contributes offensively. If he breaks a finger stealing a base, losing out on his offensive contributions for 6 weeks will cost the team more than all the bases he has ever stolen in his entire career.

My point was… two imperative runs would never have been scored if he didn’t get to second base… my original comment was also not a dig at you. Just learn to relax a bit man and enjoy it… this is ridiculously silly

I did enjoy it. I came here and posted “coolest game since the WS win”. It was awesome to see Acuna claim that piece of history.

Then you all poked, and a good old fashioned internet argument broke out. Nothing we haven’t all seen before.

Huh? I can promise nobody worries about you hero.

You just aren't the smartest guy in the room, Enscheffalitis.

Fans buy merch and fill the stadium and create home field advantage.

There are no players without the fans.

I want to stuff you in a locker.

Ok Mr. “As long as our team can give us an entertaining 6 months of baseball that’s all that matters more than October”.

This is so dumb. What would their accomplishments mean if no one watched, attended the games, and spent money on merch?

I think all people think like that. If I left my job, I wouldn't want my business to fail, but it would sting some if it kept on rolling... maybe better than ever

I'm sure some think like that, but most professional athletes are and have to be more mature than that. They experience success and failure up close and understand the pressures. I'm going to believe that good guys like FF and Swanson were pulling for their replacements in Atlanta. Sure, they have selfish thoughts like anyone else, but they are smart enough to not give into a self-destructive and purely result based mentality.

You guys realize that if you don’t engage enscheff he doesn’t interject.

I learned this years ago the hard way.

You're talking to the dude who cheered when MLB took the all star game away from the Braves because he was dumb enough to fall for the "Jim crow 2.0" nonsense.

He's a clown

(This is the part where he has a meltdown about my career)

He's a small fish in a D tier city in flyover country.

He shouldn't be talking **** to you about your career, whatever you do (I have no idea, as I don't post enough)

Just wanted you to know my comment wasn’t to poke you… was more responding to the Plaschke’s and Passan’s

This is funny. I’m sure you’re a real stud, but nobody here would even know who you are if you didn’t lose a bet to me…and then back out of it when you lost.

It’s adorable you got away from your redneck roots surrounded by ignorant buffoons and now live in the rat city as another faceless nobody in the crowd, and think you’ve somehow “made it”. I’ve already done everything you think you’re going to do, I just did it on the opposite coast.

Someday when you’ve cobbled together your first million I hope you have the pleasure of meeting some twerp from the sticks with wide eyes. Maybe he will stalk you like you stalk me.
