GDT: Braves vs Reds Game 1

Because stupid people think a man on 2nd with 1 out is more likely to result in runs than a man on 1st with 0 outs.

Stupid people also think a sac bunt is guaranteed to work, when in actuality it often ends up as man on 1st with 1 out.

ARod never bunted in his life. He has no idea what he’s taking about.

Yeah. There are certain situations where I would bunt but not in this case. If say Acuna, Freeman, Ozuna were behind Swanson there then the idea has a lot more merit.

I'm with A-rod on the bunt. Duvall at second with Markakis as the plate is a much better situation. Markakis probably has a double with if the first baseman isn't holding the runner on.

Doubtful. Neck didn't hit it hard and Votto would be playing back.

Wrong.
Wrong.
And WRONG.

Sims also walked the leadoff guy and missed badly a few times. Ideally, you'd like to make him prove he can throw strikes and not give him a free out, but we didn't really do that anyways.

It’s probably best to bunt with a terrible hitter when a low power hitter is coming up next. Guys like Acuna and Freeman are so likely to get an extra base hot or a walk that moving the runner over at the expense of an out has very little value. That’s a negative play in terms of run expectation.
