Hello, Atlanta

In terms of baseball stats that is a small sample size.

Ok, it's small then. At least to me, it will be interesting if kemp's presence helps FF and Markakis. Maybe it's too small, but I don't think it's too small to consider

This issue has been debunked over and over throughout the years.

It could help Freeman some. I'm not a big believer in lineup protection but for certain situations it might matter. For Nick I don't think much will change. He just isn't a good offensive player anymore and no matter who is around him will increase his power.

IMO good base stealers have a bigger impact on pitch selection for a #3 hitter gets than who is behind him in the #4 spot.

If kemp continues to hit well down the stretch, I think FF will be less likely to be pitched around than if Markakis was behind him. Is my reasoning wrong? Could be

Nick needs to give PEDs a shot. Might help his power, and could help the Braves avoid paying him for half a season. Win/Win.

protection has not been proven to be real.

I do think it helps to have more good hitters and more stress on the pitcher. Right now our team is half easy outs. The more good hitters the less the pitcher can relax.

Yes. It sounds good in theory, but there is nothing to support this. Its a common thought process though, for sure.

It makes it more difficult to bring in a LOOGY late in games if Kemp is hitting behind Freeman, so it makes qualitative sense that he would help.

I don't think Mallex hits well enough to be a top of the order guy. Just my opinion. I hope Albies can be a leadoff guy. I hope Swanson can be a 2.

Time will tell on that. Right now I think he has to much of an issue with lefties to be in there everyday at the top but against righthanders he should certainly be up there.

Yes, there may be some logic in that that it could make it more difficult for the opposing team. They may have to burn a lefty in the 7th.

Then again, the team would have to be competitive for it to even make sense.

I actually think it goes the other way. If Kemp is hitting well, I'm going to be even more careful pitching to Freeman... I'm not going to start piping him fastballs down the middle, as that will likely end badly for me.. so I'd nibble and be very careful to try to get the out

But nibbling leads to more walks, putting guys on base for a power threat.
