I gave DJT a chance, now I'm out

This is damaging America's brand around the world and is going to have a very negative impact on the economy. I can no longer, at least as long as this idiot is in the WH, recommend students to go study in the US. What parent in their right mind would allow their child to go to university in America to learn English?

Is this true???

This is a misleading stat. The vast majority of those refugees are non muslim. The muslim refugee number has only recently increased greatly under the last few years of the Obama admin. We did have a terror attack from a refugee just last year. He didn't kill anyone, but he certainly tried. And as I posted earlier, a terrorist was busted during the Obama admin before he could act. Also, ISIS has a different philosophy compared to Al Qaeda. The lone wolf threat is significantly greater under the recent rise of ISIS. It's really just a matter of time.

At least Trump is taking some sort of action as opposed to sitting there doing nothing for 8 years. There is a problem and this administration recognizes that and they are trying combat it. Agree or disagree with the ban. I think and hope we can at least agree that Trump is doing things for better or worse. Further I hope we can agree that there is a very real problem around the world with Muslim violence.

I don't get why we can't profile to make us safe. We know what type of person is a terrorist. Muslim males. We should use that information to combat the threat donestically.

There's a lot of oddness about today's events. Trump clearly overstepped, but some of that appears to be spread by statements from his own staff contradicting the EO. The question is was it done on purpose? This reeks of a Steve Bannon play. He wants to destroy the establishment. Don't underestimate this guy.

As everyone's head is turned toward refugees this happened today:

President Donald Trump on Saturday ordered the Pentagon to devise a strategy to defeat the Islamic State and restructured the National Security Council to include his controversial top political adviser [Steve Bannon], as he forged a partnership with Russian President Vladimir Putin in their first official phone call.

"The United States has accepted 10,801 Syrian refugees, of whom 56 are Christian. Not 56 percent; 56 total, out of 10,801. That is to say, one-half of 1 percent.

The BBC says that 10 percent of all Syrians are Christian, which would mean 2.2 million Christians. . . . Experts say [one] reason for the lack of Christians in the makeup of the refugees is the makeup of the camps. Christians in the main United Nations refugee camp in Jordan are subject to persecution, they say, and so flee the camps, meaning they are not included in the refugees referred to the U.S. by the U.N. “The Christians don’t reside in those camps because it is too dangerous,” [Nina Shea, director of the Hudson Institute’s Center for Religious Freedom] said. “They are preyed upon by other residents from the Sunni community, and there is infiltration by ISIS and criminal gangs.” “They are raped, abducted into slavery and they are abducted for ransom. It is extremely dangerous; there is not a single Christian in the Jordanian camps for Syrian refugees,” Shea said. "

What are the chances? Can we ever remove all chances of an attack?

I'm not opposed to sensible measures. But I think those of us with a greater sensibility to the dangers of jihadism need to be careful not to get caught up in fear mongering.

I'm not even sure how to respond to this. How about all the terrorism in just the west the last 10 years? How is this even debateable that Islam is at the heart of these attacks?

Here's the 2016 data from Europol re: perpetrators of terrorist attacks in Europe:

While stipulating that jihadist terrorism is a real and important issue of concern, I leave it as an exercise for the reader to determine which category is "at the heart" of the attacks.

If Hindus were massacring Muslims, why wouldn't you give preferential treatment to the group in such danger?

This doesn't really need to be a hypothetical. Burmese Buddhists have been doing this to Rohingya Muslims for a while now.

I personally have no problem giving preferential treatment to targeted populations. But in the case of Syria, I think it is difficult to claim that any of the applicants are "undeserving."

Johns Hopkins’ Top Psychologist Releases Terrifying Diagnosis of President Trump

Not like one can forget, since it describes him perfectly, but something to remember. As the walls of law and opposition close in on him, he's just going to get worse and worse.

Malignant Narcissists will go to great lengths to achieve their aim. They can be intelligent, high functioning (hold an important job for example) soft-spoken, charming, tearful/seemingly emotional, gracious, well mannered, kind and have the ability to form relationships. They may lie, falsely accuse, dramatize, smear, cheat, steal, manipulate, accuse, blame or twist to get what they want and feel justified in doing so. Because they are entitled, egocentric and desperate, they do not experience it as wrong. They are determined to gratify their wishes and furious if thwarted. Their desire can be so consuming that there is little comprehension of, respect for or ability to empathize with the other. They lack guilt or remorse and tend to feel or pronounce that it is they who have been mistreated.

It's the American way. Bend over backwards to cater others needs before making your own people safe.

Fascinating read so far. I still believe Islamic terrorism is far more dangerous as they serve a worldwide goal while these other groups are locally motivated. Thanks for sharing.
