Impeachment

Stop with that. It shows the desperation your side feels. First time voters will break 2-1 against him. The just try him voters won't come back. Where is he gonna make that up? Scared whites like you? There is not enough of you. He lost the raw count by 3M last time. If the election were tomorrow he loses by 5-6M. No way the electoral college saves him from that margin. He is toast. The next two years will usher in full Dem control and the irony is the GOP has Trump to blame. Bloomberg, Biden or AK trounce him. Bernie or Liz beat him. If the GOP were smart they would go along and impeach and remove and run Pence only real shot they have.

Trump, with Fox News, William Barr and Putin the Bear, not to mention the millions of gun toting red hats could still thwart impeachment and put Trump in office again.

The President ... shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of impeachment.

Since Nixon resigned before the House fully voted to impeach, Ford was able to pardon his crimes.

If the Pelosi House actually votes to impeach, Trump can't pardon himself (oh but I bet he'd love to try). What I want to know is if Trump resigns before the election, could Pence pardon him since he was actually impeached. And since the constitution says "except in Cases of impeachment"... not sure if there's precedent we can look to. That's why I asked striker.

Impeachment and criminal prosecution are different things. A Presidential pardon can't usurp Congress' power to remove an official from office. It can, however, stop criminal prosecution for those same acts.

So if Trump is surprisingly removed from office or resigns, Pence could pardon him and prevent federal prosecution.

Ford pardoned Nixon. Same would likely apply here for any charges related to Trump's actions while in office.

I'm frankly not sure if some of the charges coming out of SDNY are tied to the Trump presidency, so any cases in that category would likely proceed, but again, the President (Pence in this very unlikely scenario) could pardon him for those as well.

You have to be the famous meme of the guy crying after Hillary lost. Get those tears ready again.

It's as if you dont realize what non partisan hack TDS americans think if this impeachment sham.

One Democrat in the house already stating they will vote against impeachment.

Hmm....

do you realize he isnt voting against it because he thinks Trump is innocent, he just said he preferred censure. Meanwhile Republican incumbents are retiring at a staggering rate and your side had a Congressmen literally leave the party in disgust. I bet this idiot loses by 30 points next time.

How fantastic is it that the Dems announce impeachment and a day later all Americans see what a fantastic job this administration has done with their economic agenda.

Please please please keep pushing impeachment.

Will you accept his defeat next November? That's the real question here. Somehow I doubt it. The conspiracy theory is already cooking in your mind.

Projection here since the left hasn't accepted 2016.

I of course will accept the results of any election.

I don't see where he has done anythng to gain him any of the 35M that voted against him. The will of the people was denied last time on a technicality. The founders never would have instituted such a system if they could have fathomed the two results would be different by such a margin as 3M votes.

That was exactly the reason the system was implemented.

No, they did not trust the general public to be educated enough to vote was the main reason. There is no earthly reason a candidate in a country that prides itself on the vote loses by 3M and still rises to power.
