ISIS

Realistically that will never happen. Those countries will lose more than they gain by interfering with ISIS.

Egypt deals with this daily. How do they combat it? They only effective way: kill 'me all

The difference is the people in Egypt want power to control, so that's why they see them as a threat. Saddam viewed islamic extremists as a threat to his power which is why he suppressed them for years.

Least we forget... we had a puppet leader in Egypt for 30 years that we looked the other way for all the abuses he did.

What is the solution then? Do you guys really think more military action is going to wipe them out?

We've spent 14 years trying to decimate Al Qaeda, and every few years we're told how they're still a threat.

The only answer to me is to establish democracy in the MIddle East so the Muslim people realize there are other options. I understand warefare is helping the recruiting but they never strguggled with recruiting because they manipulate children to join their cause. We are restricted by the rules of war and they are not. That is why they have an advantage over us and survive. But, the idea that they will just go away because we leave them alone is crazy to me. This is a war about ideologies. Their ideologies are not going to change. They want the whole world to be under Sharia law. End of story.

Worked in every other war in man kinds history. The bombing is effective, as long as you stick around and take care of all the scraps

Yes, let's nuke all of the towns ISIS is in and kill thousands of innocents as collateral damage, that will definitely show the rest of the islamic world in the middle east that we want to be friends with the moderates.

Nuclear weapons should never be an option ever again. That was the biggest mistake in the history of mankind.

We've tried establishing a democracy in 3 countries now.

Iraq: Corruption + Civil War.
Afghanistan: Corruption.
Egypt: Civil war + Corruption.

Hmm... you know I wonder what would happen if we took a risk and actually helped Palestine gain independence from Israel... that would probably make the moderates in the middle east come to the table.

IF Palestine was willing to not support a terrorist organization it might actually happen. There is no reason to ever give Palestine anything while they openly support Hamas.

You think the moderates will care if ISIS is destroyed?

You're a fool if you think independence for Palestine will stop any Middle East crisis. If would make it worse

Why do you care so much about people who don't care for you, liking you? If the moderates wanted to come to the table they would. Gaza iSnt stopping them

It's not a problem that can be solved with diplomacy or force.

You keep telling yourself that more military intervention (boots on the ground and turning up the force) is going to wipe them out off the map.

At the very core, these guys are nuts and their followers are nuts and will fight to the death. Where Al Qaeda was strategic and played the long term game, ISIS is only doing these things for short-term shock value. They are nowhere even the threat Al Aqaeda was 14 years ago. Al Qaeda beheaded more guys than ISIS.

Only solution is getting local support over there and have them fight off ISIS. This is not something we need to step in the middle of and try to play the hero card. We've failed at that in the middle east for years (before Obama, and even before Bush who just made us look even worse), and we end up creating more problems to try and solve down the road.

I'm not interested in arguing strategy here, but I'm just wanting to make clear that you are saying that Chuck Hagel is full of **** with his assessment of ISIS. That's what you are saying? Your repeated assessment of ISIS seems rather naive, imho.

Hagel's comments as well as Feinstein's go in hand with the booming military industrial complex economy. Makes no sense why some in Congress are pushing for hard action right now.

So the administration is owned by Wall Street and the MIC? Are the only military options in your book, no action or hard action?

thankfully people still like us while we support our Gov't while they do way worse than what Hamas could do

If you've traveled a bit in the Fertile Crescent and Levant then you know that there are many really odd/strange (by our usual standards) groups. We're too generalizing typically when we think of this region ("bunch of 'rag-head' Muslim A-rabs and Jooos"). Nevertheless, strange or not, saving them from genocide is a good thing in my book. I've got friends working on relief for Yazidi and Kurd refugees in Turkey. Good work going on.

Not that I am supporting the argument, but nuking them would, in fact, work. That sort of devastation would shut anyone up. But aside from how morally wrong that would be, it would create way more issues with basically every other country in the world. Probably resulting in a nuclear war.
