ISIS

I am sure many of them do. In fact, I'd venture to say a majority of Muslims aren't too keen on ISIL.

But by kr's logic, authorities should never negotiate with criminals holding hostages. They should just blow up the building and be done with it.

I never said anything about killing OUR people, but dropping two bombs in japan saved the lives of at least 20,000 American soldiers.

The fact that you endorsed killing thousands of innocent Japanese because they're Japanese and we're American... there's some Christian morals there I'm sure.

LOL "christian" morals are worse than regular people's morals.

Sorry about my quasi mid life crisis deal there. I'll return during political season. Good luck figuring out ISIS.

If we leave them alone they will go away!

What is the solution then? Do you guys really think more military action is going to wipe them out?

We've spent 14 years trying to decimate Al Qaeda, and every few years we're told how they're still a threat.

Military action will take care of ISIS as long as you leave a decent size force behind to clean up anything that will pop up.

If Obama had left a contingent of 20-30,000 troops in Iraq we wouldn't even be talking about ISIS right now

How long would you have kept the 20k-30k troops in Iraq? Forever?

How long are we going to keep troops at the Dmz? Forever?

You think we should pull those troops back too?

Bad guys are like cancer. It's a helluva easier to take care of when it's small but obamas pestering and reluctance on the issue enabled ISIS to grow and become a big problem.

I don't compare North Korea with an isolated group of extremists that have no formal government or country.

The difference between NK and muslim extremists, is that muslim extremists deep down inside truly believe they can destroy us, which is why they will keep recruiting and fighting forever. NK only uses propaganda to remain in power and suppress their own people. NK knows if they made a move on the US or SK militarily, that China would likely say you're on your own.

So what do you suggest to handle the ISIS problem?

There's really only one way to handle the problem

It's not a problem that can be solved with diplomacy or force.

You keep telling yourself that more military intervention (boots on the ground and turning up the force) is going to wipe them out off the map.

At the very core, these guys are nuts and their followers are nuts and will fight to the death. Where Al Qaeda was strategic and played the long term game, ISIS is only doing these things for short-term shock value. They are nowhere even the threat Al Aqaeda was 14 years ago. Al Qaeda beheaded more guys than ISIS.

Only solution is getting local support over there and have them fight off ISIS. This is not something we need to step in the middle of and try to play the hero card. We've failed at that in the middle east for years (before Obama, and even before Bush who just made us look even worse), and we end up creating more problems to try and solve down the road.

“You, Obama, have but to gain from your actions but another American citizen,” the masked killer says into the camera, addressing President Barack Obama. “So just as your missiles continue to strike our people, our knife will continue to strike the necks of your people.”

“We take this opportunity to warn those governments that enter this evil alliance of America against the Islamic State to back off and leave our people alone,” the militant says.

If we keep bombing them they will go away!

Realistically that will never happen. Those countries will lose more than they gain by interfering with ISIS.

Egypt deals with this daily. How do they combat it? They only effective way: kill 'me all
