ISIS

If you've traveled a bit in the Fertile Crescent and Levant then you know that there are many really odd/strange (by our usual standards) groups. We're too generalizing typically when we think of this region ("bunch of 'rag-head' Muslim A-rabs and Jooos"). Nevertheless, strange or not, saving them from genocide is a good thing in my book. I've got friends working on relief for Yazidi and Kurd refugees in Turkey. Good work going on.

no doubt

i don't think it is any "stranger" than any other religion ftr

We've tried establishing a democracy in 3 countries now.

Iraq: Corruption + Civil War.
Afghanistan: Corruption.
Egypt: Civil war + Corruption.

Hmm... you know I wonder what would happen if we took a risk and actually helped Palestine gain independence from Israel... that would probably make the moderates in the middle east come to the table.

We also established democracy in Japan and Germany. That worked out pretty well.

comparing America from the 40's to the 2000's

awesome

The argument was the US establishing democracies does not work. But there are shining examples that it does. Rome wasn't built in a day. Japan and Germany didn't just become prosperous, well functioning democracies overnight.

well, since republicans and democrats today only care about lining the pockets of their rich friends instead of doing things a way where things will get done correctly

i find your example of 70 years ago silly

Yep, certainly no stranger than secular agnosticism or atheism.

well, don't see how those would be compared to other religions

but sure if you want to go that route as well

cause i don't see how someone believing there is no God is the same as a talking snake or a flying bird that is satan or an alien ship creating humans etc etc

but i know why you want to pain atheists in the same way though

Believing in something no one's ever seen that, in today's world, is portrayed in fairy tales (talking animals, miracles, super powers) vs. not believing in that. Which is stranger, again?

I just always get a chuckle out of the "I'm not religious" mantra. Lack of self-awareness and all.

Like I said, lack of self-awareness and all. Whatever makes people feel better. Have a nice day.

Clearly Isis are people we shouldn't be concerned about. I mean, they only attack Ottawa.

There are thousands of radicals islamists in North America just waiting for the right time. People are naive to think that radical Islam is not the #1 threat to the world currently.

You just do not understand how far reaching their message is in modern times. Its sad really.[/QUOTE

did you expect Zito to say anything different? Remember his Israel thread?

Of course not. Three girls in Denver for effs sake tried to join ISIS. There are approximately 1.6 billion Muslims in the world. ISIS is getting their message out to a lot of people even if its only .0001% of that population.

Yeah buts it's our fault. Muslims never committed any horrendous acts against others before we tried to westernize The Middle East. If we would had stayed out, 9/11 would not had happened. Islamic terrorism is all a myth that faux news and racist republicans use to make Obama look bad.
