January 6th insurrection thread...

So once they breech the fence that was put up ten min ago... That's officially an insurrection and attack on democracy, right?

If you want an analogy it would run along these lines. Some political group spends months saying the current supreme court is illegitimate. Then on the day the decision comes down some prominent politician gives an incendiary speech demanding that people fight for their rights. And then those people proceed to storm the supreme court building in an attempt to prevent the decision from coming down. To me all that obviously rises to the level of sedition or seditious conspiracy and should be treated as such by the legal authorities. Extra constitutional coup attempt is an extra constitutional coup attempt whether coming from the Left or Right and whether directed against any of the branches of government.

I hope Alito and the other conservative justices don't have to face the threats to their safety and other forms of pressure that Pence and members of Congress faced on January 6 and during the runup to it.

Oh that's a lot of steps for an insurrection.

I thought it was people protesting our leaders trying to stop the democratic process from taking place.

I guess when Chaz took over Seattle for for a month and killed people that was fine bc it didn't follow those steps meticulously outlined

The software has been updated and the seals have got their orders. How else could so many people be mobilized so quickly... And they are all on message beautifully so quickly

There is a difference between a demonstration and the kind of coup attempt against the constitution that occurred on January 6. But if you don't understand that by now I suspect you never will.

What do you call leaking a decision from the supreme court with the sole intention of stopping the ruling from happening?

Oh right, NORMS!

I don't think any clear thinking person believes that but okay.

That would be as good an example as you can find of norms being breached. Not a good thing. Sometimes norms should be breached but this was not one of those instances.

We nearly lost our democracy that day.

After security was giving tours to the protesters, all the congresspeople were brutally not touched.

So many lives were lost that day.

Our democracy hangs on by a thread

Oh this one's a hall of famer

hopefully not in the inner circle...there go the true classic posts of these boards...such as:

The American people in general can't resist killing others.

Putin is "completely rational" and "not as bad as Trudeau."

The vaccine is nothing but a tool of oppression.

The vaccines are very likely the cause of the new variants.

Sending military aid to Ukraine is "arming the Nazis."

Unlike the United States, China never invades and occupies other countries. (hello Tibet!)

Russia Today is one of the best sources for news and information.

Obama's actions in Ukraine and Russia set most of the war in motion.

Putin was afraid of Trump.

Vermont is not letting people buy seeds.

Seriously how many government officials were killed that day?

Looks very serious I'd like to pay my respects at their graves

Actually a cop died later that day and several committed suicide not long after. Google can help you find their names and locations of their graves. I'm sure their families will appreciate you stopping by to pay your respects.

Oh they were killed from the scary protesters they were escorting that day?

Or is that more deza from you, per usual

(You're too easy)

he sounds a wee bit worried...the wheels of justice grind slowly but they also grind surely

Uhhh...the entire Dem party has been doing that since Mitch blocked Garland. It got louder when Kavanaugh was confirmed. As tuned in to the news as you are, I'm surprised you don't recall it.

Then on the day the decision comes down some prominent politician gives an incendiary speech demanding that people fight for their rights.
Do you want me to waste the time it takes to change the many, many twitter links so they'll post here, or can we both just admit that several Dem politicians have already done this?

And then those people proceed to storm the supreme court building in an attempt to prevent the decision from coming down.
I, too, am curious to see whether the NPC AI has been programmed to storm the building.

The tasers! The poop! So much poop!
