Jecki Lon Memorial Star Wars Thread

I always enjoyed the weirdness of the chosen one prophecy. And Clone Wars did a great job to make it seem like it was a good thing what Anakin was supposed to do. Not a bad thing.

Yup. The Jedi, while good, were way to much of a religious group set in their ways. They thought bringing balance meant the end of the Sith and darkside as a whole. Jokes on them.

I also like looking at the angle that Obi-Wan and Yoda were trying to make Luke into an assassin to take out Vader in Ep 4 and 5. Even when Luke went to face Vader in Cloud City they weren't too upset at the prospect of him losing because 'there was another'. They truly didn't understand it yet then either.

I mean its less of an angle and more of what the story of the films told. The thought was Obi Wan didn't believe Anakin lived. He believed he was totally crushed. But he also believed that Vader wasn't the chosen one in the end and lost immense power and Luke could best both of them with the right training.

But the catch is that they weren't training Luke to be an assassin as much as to be a true Jedi power force.

Crazy that they had Maul try to undo it all too.

Clone Wars and Rebels paint Maul as an incredibly complex villain. He was taken from his family and given to Sidious to be tortured and raised. He did everything in his power to be cut in two and left for dead. He goes crazy, only to be revived by his now tortured brother and deceased matriarch. revive him. He goes on a wurst to do the one thing he believes he must destroy Kenobi, and almost succeeds, only for Palpatine to come and destroy him, capture him and torture him.

Dune will be a better movie than any of the Star Wars sequels.

I mean probably. Villanueve is a fantastic director. Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, and Sicario are all amazing films. Only The Last Jedi is a good film from the new trilogy. The Force Awakens was a decent restart that lead to the worst star wars movie probably ever in The Rise of Skywalker which I was shocked ther would be anything close to the level of episode 1 or 2. Episode 9 came right up to that level because it's ass.

A reminder:

Just because you say the same things over and over does not make them true.

I'm fairly certain zito believes he is the only one that has a valid opinion on SW and the only person I've ever heard that has said the Last Jedi was a good movie.

He's the 2nd for me. The other is a friend of mine who is a total SW fanboy and likes everything just because it's SW. Phantom Menace included.

90% rotten tomatoes

A Cinemascore

Yup no one likes it.

Hint, people who don't like it are a few types

1. This ruins my childhood.

2. People who never saw the movie and torpedoed it

3. People who believed those reviews.

High quality film, good call backs without fellating fan service. Moved new characters forward. Only thing that sucked was Carrie Fisher dying after it all was shot, I wish Rian had the means to kill her off, but I know she was supposed to end the last movie and killing her would have required massive reshoots Disney wouldnt approve.

I fall into none of those categories, and both my wife and I thought it sucked. So there's that. Oh and about every other commenter on this thread didn't like it. I don't remember them giving any of those reasons either.

The only SW that exists on the big screen is Lucas SW. Period. I still can't see how 8 can be considered part of the overall story. At least 9 is a fun popcorn movie and if you know anything about the EU you can see elements in it. For me, even Rogue One doesn't supersede the Kyle Katarn arc from the EU.

Again, these negative reviews hit the internet before the film came out. Setting people up to be upset.

I look forward to years from now when people realize that The Last Jedi is the best Star Wars film since Empire Strikes Back.
